- Participate in mentorship relationships with lead engineers to understand the “how” and “why” of engineering for the built environment
- Able to autonomously implement delegated design tasks
- Developing the Table of Contents for, primarily, Division 26 specifications
- Learning and completing system sizing calculations (loads, voltage drop, short circuit, conduit/cable sizing) under the guidance of the project designer/lead
- Checking own work for graphical issues to resolve prior to deliverable issuance per HED’s Design Standards
- Collaborate with the QAQC effort per HED’s Design Process
- Attend client meetings, for observation, alongside the project designer/lead to collaborate on project requirements specifically for the electrical systems
- Attend and actively participate in project team meetings
- Working in different sectors to gain experience as a generalist
- Engage in DWP process including estimating time required to complete tasks or assigned work
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in directly related field or equivalent experience required
- Written and verbal communication skills commensurate with the position required
- Strong organizational skills preferred
- Revit experience preferred
- Experience with computers, specifically for word processing, spreadsheet use/creation and email required
- Detail-oriented, self-motivated, enthusiastic, flexible and curious personalities required

Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Must be able to effectively communicate in writing and verbally via phone, video conferencing, and in-person
- Visual acuity to perform responsibilities

Certify Your Electrical Credentials Before Applying
U.S. construction employers expect state-issued electrician licenses, not just foreign equivalents. Get your credentials evaluated by a NACES-approved body and check whether your license transfers or requires a local exam before your first interview.
Target Harley Ellis Devereaux's Active Project Pipelines
Construction firms hire electricians to staff specific projects, not open-ended roles. Research Harley Ellis Devereaux's current commercial and institutional builds so your application connects your skills to live project needs rather than a generic labor pool.
Understand How EB-3 Fits Skilled Trades Roles
Electrician positions at construction firms commonly qualify under EB-3 skilled worker classification. Your employer will need to complete PERM labor certification with DOL before filing your immigrant visa petition, so ask about that process explicitly during offer negotiations.
Clarify H-1B Specialty Occupation Status Early
USCIS scrutinizes whether electrician roles qualify as H-1B specialty occupations. Confirm that the specific position Harley Ellis Devereaux is offering involves design, engineering oversight, or advanced systems work, since purely trade-level duties may not meet the degree requirement threshold.
Browse Sponsored Electrician Roles on Migrate Mate
Filter Harley Ellis Devereaux's open Electrician listings by visa type on Migrate Mate so you only spend time on roles where sponsorship is already confirmed, not roles where you'd need to negotiate it from scratch.
Plan Around the H-1B Cap and Construction Seasonality
Construction hiring peaks in spring, but H-1B registrations close in March. If you receive an offer outside that window, discuss cap-exempt alternatives or an EB-3 pathway with your employer so the timeline aligns with their project start date.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Harley Ellis Devereaux sponsor H-1B visas for Electricians?
Harley Ellis Devereaux has sponsored H-1B visas and the company operates in construction and real estate, where electrician roles can qualify when the position involves advanced systems, design coordination, or engineering-level responsibilities. Whether a specific role qualifies as an H-1B specialty occupation depends on the job duties, so confirm the scope of the position directly with the hiring team before assuming H-1B is on the table.
How do I apply for Electrician jobs at Harley Ellis Devereaux?
You can browse and apply for open Electrician positions at Harley Ellis Devereaux through Migrate Mate, which filters listings by visa sponsorship type so you can identify roles where H-1B or Green Card sponsorship is available. When applying, tailor your resume to the specific project type listed and highlight any U.S.-relevant certifications or licensed trade experience upfront.
Which visa types are commonly used for Electrician roles at Harley Ellis Devereaux?
Harley Ellis Devereaux sponsors both H-1B nonimmigrant visas and employment-based Green Cards through the EB-2 and EB-3 preference categories. For electricians, EB-3 skilled worker is often the more straightforward path since it doesn't require the same specialty occupation standard as H-1B. The EB-3 route involves PERM labor certification filed with the DOL before USCIS can adjudicate the immigrant petition.
What qualifications and experience are expected for Electrician roles at Harley Ellis Devereaux?
Harley Ellis Devereaux typically looks for electricians with a valid state journeyman or master electrician license, commercial or industrial project experience, and familiarity with U.S. electrical codes such as the NEC. Candidates coming from outside the U.S. should have their foreign credentials formally evaluated and be prepared to sit for a state licensing exam if reciprocity isn't available in the state where the project is located.
How do I navigate the sponsorship timeline for an Electrician role at Harley Ellis Devereaux?
If you're pursuing an H-1B, your employer must register during the annual USCIS lottery window in March, with employment typically starting October 1 at the earliest. For EB-3, the PERM process with DOL takes six to twelve months before USCIS even receives the petition. Build these timelines into your offer negotiation so your start date and visa filing schedule are aligned with the project's actual needs.
