- Run sales reports and use data to help guide your strategy to hit sales targets
- You’ve got the keys to the kingdom, and you’re not afraid to use them! You’re willing to adapt to new technologies, communicate company policies & procedures, and control supply ownership (spending only as needed)
- Deliver the goods - you’ll merchandise the store in a compelling way, leveraging planograms as a guide, while launching all promos on time
- Every Fellowship needs a Gandalf! Ensure that you’re continually building a bench of equally talented, passionate staff through mentorship, recognition, and feedback
- At least 1-2 years of retail store management experience; you’ve led teams to success and want to experience more of it. You’ll have skills to pay the bills: communication, recruiting, and operations (payroll, reporting, scheduling, merchandising)
- You'll have to be at least 18 years of age to join the fandom force
- A high school diploma or GED equivalent. If you have a degree, even better
- Roll with the punches! Retail is a fast-changing industry and you like catching curveballs thrown your way
- Open-minded and inquisitive regarding pop culture fandoms & trends
- The usual retail stuff (with or without reasonable accommodation): able to navigate your way around the store, merchandise product utilizing approved store equipment, and pack and unpack boxes of awesome merch that may weigh up to 50 pounds

Frame retail leadership in specialty terms
Hot Topic hires managers who understand alternative fashion, licensed merchandise, and fandom-driven buying behavior. Structure your resume around merchandising decisions, category performance, and team retention metrics rather than generic retail management language.
Target stores near Hot Topic district offices
Store-level Sales Manager roles often feed into district and corporate pipelines at Hot Topic. Applying to locations near existing district hubs signals mobility and alignment with how the company scales its management bench.
Understand which Green Card categories apply
Hot Topic has filed under employment-based immigrant visa categories for this role. EB-2 requires an advanced degree or exceptional ability, while EB-3 covers professionals with a bachelor's degree. Confirm which category your credentials support before initiating conversations with a hiring manager.
Prepare for a PERM-based sponsorship timeline
Employment-based Green Card sponsorship for Sales Manager roles typically runs through the PERM labor certification process with the DOL. This can take one to three years before you reach USCIS petition stage, so factor this into your current visa status and authorized stay period.
Use Migrate Mate to filter Hot Topic openings
Hot Topic posts Sales Manager roles across many markets simultaneously. Browse and filter sponsorship-friendly openings on Migrate Mate to identify which locations and role variations align with your visa situation before applying directly.
Clarify sponsorship intent before accepting an offer

Find Sales Manager at Hot Topic JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Hot Topic sponsor H-1B visas for Sales Managers?
Hot Topic's visa sponsorship for Sales Manager roles has been focused on employment-based Green Card categories rather than the H-1B. Sales Manager positions are generally classified as specialty retail roles, which can face scrutiny under H-1B specialty occupation standards. If you're pursuing sponsorship here, the more realistic path is an EB-2 or EB-3 Green Card filed through PERM labor certification.
How do I apply for Sales Manager jobs at Hot Topic?
Applications go through Hot Topic's careers portal, where openings are listed by location and job type. Because Hot Topic operates hundreds of stores, roles open and close frequently. Migrate Mate aggregates these listings and lets you filter by sponsorship eligibility, which helps you identify positions that align with your visa situation before applying directly through the company's official site.
Which visa types are commonly used for Sales Manager roles at Hot Topic?
Hot Topic's sponsorship activity for Sales Manager positions centers on employment-based immigrant visas, specifically EB-2 and EB-3 Green Cards. EB-3 is the more common fit for candidates with a bachelor's degree and relevant retail management experience. EB-2 is available to those with an advanced degree or who can demonstrate exceptional ability in their field.
What qualifications does Hot Topic expect for Sales Manager candidates?
Hot Topic typically looks for retail management experience, comfort leading hourly teams in a high-volume environment, and genuine familiarity with alternative fashion and licensed entertainment products. A bachelor's degree in business, retail management, or a related field strengthens your profile, particularly if you're pursuing EB-3 sponsorship, where PERM labor certification requires the employer to document minimum academic and experience requirements for the role.
How do I plan around the sponsorship timeline for this role?
If Hot Topic agrees to sponsor an employment-based Green Card, the PERM process with the DOL typically takes several months before the I-140 petition is filed with USCIS. Total processing from PERM to Green Card approval can span multiple years depending on your country of birth and visa preference category. Start the conversation early and ensure your current status, such as H-1B or F-1 OPT, provides enough runway to bridge the gap.
