Frame Your Credentials for Law Firm Accounting
Law firms like Husch Blackwell prioritize accounting candidates with exposure to professional services billing, client trust accounts, or partner compensation structures. Tailor your resume to reflect these areas before applying, not after you've already submitted.
Use Migrate Mate to Target Open Accountant Positions
Husch Blackwell posts Accountant openings across multiple offices, and availability shifts regularly. Use Migrate Mate to filter live openings by visa type so you're applying to roles where sponsorship is already on the table.
Time Your Application Around OPT Authorization Windows
If you're on F-1 OPT, apply early enough that your authorization covers the full hiring and onboarding timeline. Husch Blackwell's HR process at a law firm typically involves multiple interview rounds, and running out of OPT mid-process creates complications for both sides.
Ask HR Directly About H-1B Petition Timing
H-1B cap-subject petitions must be filed in April for an October start. When you reach the offer stage, clarify whether Husch Blackwell will commit to a cap-season filing or only cap-exempt transfers, since that determines your actual start date.
Align Your Degree Field With the Specialty Occupation Requirement
USCIS requires that your degree field directly relate to the Accountant role for H-1B approval. A degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field is the standard. A general business degree without accounting coursework can trigger a Request for Evidence.

Find Accountant at Husch Blackwell JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Husch Blackwell sponsor H-1B visas for Accountants?
Yes, Husch Blackwell has sponsored H-1B visas for Accountants. As a national law firm, Husch Blackwell has the legal infrastructure to manage visa filings through in-house or outside immigration counsel. The role must qualify as a specialty occupation, which Accountant positions generally meet when the job requires a degree in Accounting or a directly related field.
How do I apply for Accountant jobs at Husch Blackwell?
Applications go through Husch Blackwell's careers portal, where openings are listed by office location and department. If you need visa sponsorship, use Migrate Mate to identify which postings are open to sponsored candidates before applying. Applying directly without confirming sponsorship eligibility upfront can lead to late-stage rejections after multiple interview rounds.
Which visa types does Husch Blackwell commonly use for Accountant roles?
Husch Blackwell has sponsored Accountants on H-1B, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, TN, and J-1 visas. The TN option is particularly efficient for Canadian and Mexican nationals since Accountant is a qualifying USMCA occupation, requires no USCIS petition, and can be obtained at the border or port of entry with a job offer letter and credentials.
What qualifications does Husch Blackwell expect for Accountant roles?
Husch Blackwell typically expects a bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, along with relevant experience in a professional services or corporate environment. CPA licensure or progress toward it is a common requirement, particularly for roles involving financial reporting, auditing, or compliance functions within a law firm's finance department.
How do I plan around the H-1B filing timeline for a Husch Blackwell Accountant role?
USCIS opens H-1B registration in March, with cap-subject approvals taking effect October 1. If your offer comes after the April filing window, you'll either wait until the next cap season or explore whether Husch Blackwell can onboard you under OPT, CPT, or a cap-exempt arrangement in the interim. Clarify this timeline with HR before accepting an offer.
