Target IU Health's School-Based Health Programs
IU Health staffs nurses across school partnerships and pediatric outreach sites, not just inpatient units. Filtering your search by school health or community health nursing gets your application in front of the hiring teams most familiar with sponsorship workflows for this specific function.
Ask Recruiters About PERM Timeline Early
If you're targeting an EB-2 or EB-3 Green Card through IU Health, ask the recruiter during the offer stage whether the role qualifies for PERM labor certification. DOL requires a prevailing wage determination before PERM is filed, and that process adds time you need to account for.
Use Migrate Mate to Find IU Health School Nurse Openings
School Nurse roles with visa sponsorship are filtered and listed on Migrate Mate, so you can browse active IU Health postings by visa type and location without manually sifting through general job boards that don't surface sponsorship details.
Prepare a Specialty Occupation Summary for H-1B Filing
USCIS scrutinizes nursing roles under H-1B specialty occupation standards. Having documentation ready that ties your specific School Nurse duties to your nursing degree, including any school health certifications or specialized pediatric training, strengthens the petition IU Health files on your behalf.

Find School Nurse at Indiana University Health JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Indiana University Health sponsor H-1B visas for School Nurses?
Yes, Indiana University Health has a documented history of sponsoring H-1B visas for nursing roles, including School Nurses. Because USCIS applies specialty occupation standards to nursing petitions, your application will be stronger if your role involves specialized clinical duties tied directly to a relevant degree. IU Health's HR and legal team typically manages the H-1B filing process once an offer is extended.
How do I apply for School Nurse jobs at Indiana University Health?
You can find School Nurse openings at Indiana University Health through Migrate Mate, which filters roles by employer and visa sponsorship type. Once you identify a role, apply directly through IU Health's careers portal. Have your nursing license, resume, and any visa documentation ready, as IU Health's credentialing and HR intake processes often run concurrently from the start of the hiring process.
Which visa types does Indiana University Health commonly use for School Nurse roles?
Indiana University Health sponsors H-1B, TN, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, and employment-based Green Cards including EB-2 and EB-3 for nursing positions. TN visas are available to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying nursing roles. EB-3 is a common Green Card pathway for registered nurses, typically initiated through the PERM labor certification process after a period of employment.
What qualifications does Indiana University Health expect for sponsored School Nurse positions?
IU Health generally requires an active Indiana nursing license, either RN or LPN depending on the role, along with a relevant nursing degree. School-based positions may also require or prefer experience in pediatric care, school health programs, or community health settings. Certifications such as a National Board for Certification of School Nurses credential can strengthen your candidacy, particularly for sponsored roles where USCIS documentation requirements are more detailed.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for a School Nurse role at Indiana University Health?
Timelines vary by visa type. H-1B petitions filed in April have an October 1 start date, so expect a six-month gap between filing and work authorization. PERM-based Green Card sponsorship through DOL can take one to two years before an I-140 is even filed. TN visas for eligible nationals can be processed at the border or port of entry with same-day results. Clarifying your target visa category with IU Health's HR team early in the offer process helps you plan accurately.
