Job Description
The Senior Direct Investment Manager is a hands-on, strategic role responsible for the execution, performance, and growth of Direct Buys and Affiliate Partnerships for our client in the insurance industry. Acting as both operator and integrator, this individual ensures campaigns are effectively planned, executed, and optimized to drive measurable business outcomes in a highly regulated financial services environment.
This role plays a critical part in building and managing relationships with premium publishers, (d)OOH vendors, and a diverse network of affiliate partners (such as NerdWallet and Forbes). Working seamlessly across a dual-stack tracking ecosystem (Impact and Everflow) and in close partnership with internal strategy, planning, and paid media teams, this person ensures cohesive execution and strong performance across all direct investment channels. You will collaborate with Media Strategy, Planning, Paid Media, Analytics, and Client teams.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in fast-paced environments, understands the technical nuances of long-cycle lead generation, acts as a strict gatekeeper for audience quality, and brings a proactive, ownership-driven mindset.
This is a hybrid position based out of our NYC office. The salary range for the role is between $85,000-110,000 USD, annually and final offer is dependent on experience.
Responsibilities
Leadership & Accountability
- Own performance across direct media and affiliate partnerships, serving as the primary point of accountability.
- Translate complex strategies into clear, actionable plans for clients and internal teams.
- Define KPIs and measurement frameworks to track and improve performance across a delayed underwriting/conversion cycle.
- Operate independently, making informed decisions and driving outcomes with minimal oversight.
Partner Strategy, Vetting & Growth
- Manage and grow key affiliate and publisher partnerships (e.g., NerdWallet, Forbes), leveraging both Impact (for content creators) and Everflow (for lead aggregators).
- Act as a strategic audience gatekeeper, ensuring all onboarded partners align strictly with our core demographic profiles (e.g., middle-class households, family decision-makers, and grandmothers) rather than generic traffic.
- Proactively source, evaluate, and onboard new partners to unlock incremental growth while maintaining strict brand safety.
- Lead or support partner negotiations, contracting, and commercial structuring to protect media efficiency.
- Stay ahead of industry trends and bring forward new ideas across Premium Publishers (including CTV) and (d)OOH.
Campaign Execution, Compliance & Optimization
- Own end-to-end campaign execution, from setup through ongoing optimization.
- Oversee complex tracking infrastructure, ensuring accurate tracking of delayed offline conversions, Server-to-Server (S2S) routing, and postback mechanics.
- Enforce strict regulatory compliance, auditing partner content to ensure adherence to approved life insurance claims, disclosures, and pricing.
- Monitor performance closely, identifying opportunities to improve lead quality (CPQL) and scale.
- Manage budget pacing and ensure alignment with client goals.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner closely with media strategy, planning, paid media, and analytics teams to share insights on publisher quality and backend lead validity.
- Ensure alignment across teams to drive cohesive execution and maximize impact.
Client Leadership
- Serve as a senior, client-facing lead for direct investment and partnership strategies.
- Lead client meetings, clearly communicating performance, technical stack recommendations, and insights.
- Deliver clear, data-driven reporting with actionable insights, translating complex affiliate data into executive summaries.
Success Measures
- Performance Efficiency: Achieve or exceed client spend and performance targets across direct buys and affiliate networks, ensuring budget pacing aligns with client objectives.
- Operational & Technical Excellence: Maintain clean tracking and reporting across the Everflow and Impact platforms, successfully managing the integration of offline/delayed conversion data.
- Compliance & Brand Safety: Ensure zero regulatory breaches by maintaining strict oversight of publisher messaging and audience alignment.
- Client Satisfaction & Retention: Drive proactive performance insights, ensuring high client confidence in direct media strategies.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in media strategy, planning, and execution, particularly in large-scale, multi-market campaigns.
- Proven track record of managing enterprise affiliate partnerships (such as NerdWallet and Forbes).
- Hands-on experience navigating complex or dual-stack partnership platforms (specifically Impact and Everflow).
- Deep expertise in the technical affiliate ecosystem, including Server-to-Server (S2S) tracking, delayed offline conversion windows, publisher models, and commission structures.
- Experience in regulated industries (e.g., financial services, insurance, education) with longer sales cycles is highly preferred.
- A data-focused mindset with a sharp ability to vet publishers based on specific audience demographic criteria.
- Ability to operate both strategically and tactically, balancing big-picture thinking with hands-on technical execution.
Note: We emphasize skills, expertise and behavioral attributes over years of experience and traditional degrees. If you want to join our collaborative team, we invite you to apply today with your resume in English.

Frame Your BD Experience Around Marketing Outcomes
Jellyfish works with brands on media, data, and digital marketing solutions. When preparing your resume and portfolio, connect your Business Development wins directly to marketing performance metrics like pipeline growth, client retention, or revenue from new channels.
Research Jellyfish's Client Roster Before Applying
Jellyfish serves major global brands across retail, technology, and financial services. Reviewing publicly available case studies and press releases helps you tailor outreach to the verticals where they actively pursue new partnerships, signaling genuine commercial alignment to hiring managers.
Clarify Sponsorship Willingness Early in Recruiter Calls
H-1B sponsorship in Marketing and Advertising can vary by seniority and headcount timing. Ask the recruiter directly whether the specific Business Development role is open to sponsorship before investing time in multi-round interviews, since eligibility is decided at the hiring manager level.
Understand the H-1B Specialty Occupation Standard for BD Roles
USCIS requires that H-1B positions qualify as specialty occupations requiring a relevant bachelor's degree or higher. For Business Development, a degree in marketing, business, or a related field strengthens your petition. Roles blending sales with strategic analysis tend to meet this threshold more clearly.
Time Your Application Around the H-1B Cap Cycle
If you need a new H-1B, USCIS opens registration in March for an October 1 start. Securing a Jellyfish offer by February gives your employer enough lead time to register, and you should confirm internally that their HR team is prepared to file by that window.
Use Migrate Mate to Track Open BD Roles at Jellyfish
Jellyfish posts Business Development openings across different markets and seniority levels, and availability shifts frequently. Use Migrate Mate to monitor active sponsorship-eligible positions at Jellyfish so you can apply as soon as a relevant role opens rather than checking manually.

Find Business Development at Jellyfish JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Jellyfish sponsor H-1B visas for Business Developments?
Jellyfish has sponsored H-1B visas for Business Development roles, though sponsorship is not automatic for every open position. Eligibility depends on the specific role, seniority level, and hiring timeline relative to the H-1B cap cycle. Raising the topic directly with your recruiter early in the process helps clarify whether the role you are pursuing is approved for sponsorship.
How do I apply for Business Development jobs at Jellyfish?
Jellyfish posts Business Development openings on its careers page, and roles vary by region and seniority. Applying through Migrate Mate lets you filter specifically for Jellyfish positions open to visa sponsorship, so you are not spending time on applications where sponsorship is unavailable. Tailor your application to reflect commercial experience relevant to marketing and advertising clients.
Which visa types are commonly used for Business Development roles at Jellyfish?
The H-1B is the primary work visa used for Business Development professionals at Jellyfish, as it supports specialty occupation roles requiring a relevant degree in business, marketing, or a related field. Candidates already on OPT or STEM OPT can often begin working before an H-1B is filed, giving both sides time to assess fit before committing to a full petition.
What qualifications and experience does Jellyfish expect for Business Development roles?
Jellyfish typically looks for Business Development candidates with a background in marketing services, media, or agency environments. Experience managing complex deals, building client relationships with large brand advertisers, and working across cross-functional teams carries weight. A degree in business, marketing, or communications supports both the hiring case and the H-1B specialty occupation requirement under USCIS guidelines.
How do I plan my timeline if I need H-1B sponsorship to work at Jellyfish?
If you need a new H-1B cap-subject visa, USCIS opens online registration in March each year for an October 1 start date. You should target securing an offer from Jellyfish no later than February to allow sufficient preparation time. If you are already on H-1B status with another employer, Jellyfish can file an H-1B transfer and you can begin work as soon as the petition is received by USCIS.
