Job Description
The Senior Direct Investment Manager is a hands-on, strategic role responsible for the execution, performance, and growth of Direct Buys and Affiliate Partnerships for our client in the insurance industry. Acting as both operator and integrator, this individual ensures campaigns are effectively planned, executed, and optimized to drive measurable business outcomes in a highly regulated financial services environment.
This role plays a critical part in building and managing relationships with premium publishers, (d)OOH vendors, and a diverse network of affiliate partners (such as NerdWallet and Forbes). Working seamlessly across a dual-stack tracking ecosystem (Impact and Everflow) and in close partnership with internal strategy, planning, and paid media teams, this person ensures cohesive execution and strong performance across all direct investment channels. You will collaborate with Media Strategy, Planning, Paid Media, Analytics, and Client teams.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in fast-paced environments, understands the technical nuances of long-cycle lead generation, acts as a strict gatekeeper for audience quality, and brings a proactive, ownership-driven mindset.
This is a hybrid position based out of our NYC office. The salary range for the role is between $85,000-110,000 USD, annually and final offer is dependent on experience.
Responsibilities
Leadership & Accountability
- Own performance across direct media and affiliate partnerships, serving as the primary point of accountability.
- Translate complex strategies into clear, actionable plans for clients and internal teams.
- Define KPIs and measurement frameworks to track and improve performance across a delayed underwriting/conversion cycle.
- Operate independently, making informed decisions and driving outcomes with minimal oversight.
Partner Strategy, Vetting & Growth
- Manage and grow key affiliate and publisher partnerships (e.g., NerdWallet, Forbes), leveraging both Impact (for content creators) and Everflow (for lead aggregators).
- Act as a strategic audience gatekeeper, ensuring all onboarded partners align strictly with our core demographic profiles (e.g., middle-class households, family decision-makers, and grandmothers) rather than generic traffic.
- Proactively source, evaluate, and onboard new partners to unlock incremental growth while maintaining strict brand safety.
- Lead or support partner negotiations, contracting, and commercial structuring to protect media efficiency.
- Stay ahead of industry trends and bring forward new ideas across Premium Publishers (including CTV) and (d)OOH.
Campaign Execution, Compliance & Optimization
- Own end-to-end campaign execution, from setup through ongoing optimization.
- Oversee complex tracking infrastructure, ensuring accurate tracking of delayed offline conversions, Server-to-Server (S2S) routing, and postback mechanics.
- Enforce strict regulatory compliance, auditing partner content to ensure adherence to approved life insurance claims, disclosures, and pricing.
- Monitor performance closely, identifying opportunities to improve lead quality (CPQL) and scale.
- Manage budget pacing and ensure alignment with client goals.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner closely with media strategy, planning, paid media, and analytics teams to share insights on publisher quality and backend lead validity.
- Ensure alignment across teams to drive cohesive execution and maximize impact.
Client Leadership
- Serve as a senior, client-facing lead for direct investment and partnership strategies.
- Lead client meetings, clearly communicating performance, technical stack recommendations, and insights.
- Deliver clear, data-driven reporting with actionable insights, translating complex affiliate data into executive summaries.
Success Measures
- Performance Efficiency: Achieve or exceed client spend and performance targets across direct buys and affiliate networks, ensuring budget pacing aligns with client objectives.
- Operational & Technical Excellence: Maintain clean tracking and reporting across the Everflow and Impact platforms, successfully managing the integration of offline/delayed conversion data.
- Compliance & Brand Safety: Ensure zero regulatory breaches by maintaining strict oversight of publisher messaging and audience alignment.
- Client Satisfaction & Retention: Drive proactive performance insights, ensuring high client confidence in direct media strategies.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in media strategy, planning, and execution, particularly in large-scale, multi-market campaigns.
- Proven track record of managing enterprise affiliate partnerships (such as NerdWallet and Forbes).
- Hands-on experience navigating complex or dual-stack partnership platforms (specifically Impact and Everflow).
- Deep expertise in the technical affiliate ecosystem, including Server-to-Server (S2S) tracking, delayed offline conversion windows, publisher models, and commission structures.
- Experience in regulated industries (e.g., financial services, insurance, education) with longer sales cycles is highly preferred.
- A data-focused mindset with a sharp ability to vet publishers based on specific audience demographic criteria.
- Ability to operate both strategically and tactically, balancing big-picture thinking with hands-on technical execution.
Note: We emphasize skills, expertise and behavioral attributes over years of experience and traditional degrees. If you want to join our collaborative team, we invite you to apply today with your resume in English.

Frame Your Agency Delivery Experience Precisely
Jellyfish operates inside the marketing and advertising industry, so position your background around managing development cycles in client-facing or agency environments. Highlight release cadences, stakeholder management, and cross-functional delivery rather than pure engineering output.
Target Jellyfish's Open Roles Across Practice Areas
Jellyfish posts Development Manager roles tied to specific client accounts or product verticals. Search by practice area rather than job title alone, since the same function may surface under delivery, engineering, or program management depending on the team.
Confirm Specialty Occupation Standing Before Applying
USCIS requires H-1B roles to qualify as specialty occupations with a direct degree-to-role connection. For a Development Manager at an agency, document how your computer science, information systems, or engineering degree maps directly to the technical leadership duties in the job description.
Clarify Sponsorship Timing During Offer Negotiation
H-1B cap-subject filings open in April for an October start. If you're negotiating an offer outside that window, ask Jellyfish's recruiting team whether they'll file for the next available lottery cycle or support a cap-exempt pathway if one applies to your situation.
Use Migrate Mate to Track Jellyfish Openings Efficiently
Development Manager roles at agencies fill quickly and aren't always syndicated widely. Use Migrate Mate to surface Jellyfish postings filtered by visa sponsorship so you're not manually sifting through listings that won't support your H-1B status.
Prepare Your LCA Documentation Before Your Start Date
Your employer files a Labor Condition Application with the DOL before USCIS can process your H-1B petition. Ask Jellyfish's HR or immigration counsel early in onboarding which wage level applies to your Development Manager role so the LCA reflects your actual duties accurately.

Find Development Manager at Jellyfish JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Jellyfish sponsor H-1B visas for Development Managers?
Yes, Jellyfish has sponsored H-1B visas for Development Manager roles. As a global agency operating in the marketing and advertising space, the company works with international talent in technical leadership positions. If you're applying, confirm sponsorship availability directly with their recruiting team during initial screening, since not every open role includes sponsorship by default.
Which visa types are commonly used for Development Manager roles at Jellyfish?
The H-1B is the most common work visa path for Development Manager positions at a company like Jellyfish. If you're already on OPT or STEM OPT, you can start without a new petition and transition to H-1B later. The O-1A is an option if you have documented exceptional ability in engineering or technical leadership, though the evidentiary bar is high.
What qualifications and experience does Jellyfish expect for Development Manager roles?
Jellyfish typically looks for candidates with a background in software engineering or systems development who have moved into managing delivery teams. Agency experience is a meaningful differentiator given the client-facing nature of the work. A degree in computer science, engineering, or a related technical field strengthens your H-1B specialty occupation argument and aligns with what USCIS expects.
How do I apply for Development Manager jobs at Jellyfish?
You can find and apply for Development Manager openings at Jellyfish through Migrate Mate, which filters roles by visa sponsorship eligibility so you can confirm sponsorship is on the table before you invest time in the application. Once you apply, Jellyfish's process typically includes a recruiter screen, technical or delivery-focused interviews, and a final conversation with senior leadership or a client practice lead.
How do I time my H-1B filing if I receive an offer from Jellyfish?
The H-1B cap registration window opens in March, with selections made in April for an October 1 start. If Jellyfish extends you an offer outside that cycle, your start date depends on when the next lottery opens. USCIS allows premium processing for faster adjudication once a petition is filed, which some employers use to reduce uncertainty after selection.
