Job Description
The Senior Direct Investment Manager is a hands-on, strategic role responsible for the execution, performance, and growth of Direct Buys and Affiliate Partnerships for our client in the insurance industry. Acting as both operator and integrator, this individual ensures campaigns are effectively planned, executed, and optimized to drive measurable business outcomes in a highly regulated financial services environment.
This role plays a critical part in building and managing relationships with premium publishers, (d)OOH vendors, and a diverse network of affiliate partners (such as NerdWallet and Forbes). Working seamlessly across a dual-stack tracking ecosystem (Impact and Everflow) and in close partnership with internal strategy, planning, and paid media teams, this person ensures cohesive execution and strong performance across all direct investment channels. You will collaborate with Media Strategy, Planning, Paid Media, Analytics, and Client teams.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in fast-paced environments, understands the technical nuances of long-cycle lead generation, acts as a strict gatekeeper for audience quality, and brings a proactive, ownership-driven mindset.
This is a hybrid position based out of our NYC office. The salary range for the role is between $85,000-110,000 USD, annually and final offer is dependent on experience.
Responsibilities
Leadership & Accountability
- Own performance across direct media and affiliate partnerships, serving as the primary point of accountability.
- Translate complex strategies into clear, actionable plans for clients and internal teams.
- Define KPIs and measurement frameworks to track and improve performance across a delayed underwriting/conversion cycle.
- Operate independently, making informed decisions and driving outcomes with minimal oversight.
Partner Strategy, Vetting & Growth
- Manage and grow key affiliate and publisher partnerships (e.g., NerdWallet, Forbes), leveraging both Impact (for content creators) and Everflow (for lead aggregators).
- Act as a strategic audience gatekeeper, ensuring all onboarded partners align strictly with our core demographic profiles (e.g., middle-class households, family decision-makers, and grandmothers) rather than generic traffic.
- Proactively source, evaluate, and onboard new partners to unlock incremental growth while maintaining strict brand safety.
- Lead or support partner negotiations, contracting, and commercial structuring to protect media efficiency.
- Stay ahead of industry trends and bring forward new ideas across Premium Publishers (including CTV) and (d)OOH.
Campaign Execution, Compliance & Optimization
- Own end-to-end campaign execution, from setup through ongoing optimization.
- Oversee complex tracking infrastructure, ensuring accurate tracking of delayed offline conversions, Server-to-Server (S2S) routing, and postback mechanics.
- Enforce strict regulatory compliance, auditing partner content to ensure adherence to approved life insurance claims, disclosures, and pricing.
- Monitor performance closely, identifying opportunities to improve lead quality (CPQL) and scale.
- Manage budget pacing and ensure alignment with client goals.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner closely with media strategy, planning, paid media, and analytics teams to share insights on publisher quality and backend lead validity.
- Ensure alignment across teams to drive cohesive execution and maximize impact.
Client Leadership
- Serve as a senior, client-facing lead for direct investment and partnership strategies.
- Lead client meetings, clearly communicating performance, technical stack recommendations, and insights.
- Deliver clear, data-driven reporting with actionable insights, translating complex affiliate data into executive summaries.
Success Measures
- Performance Efficiency: Achieve or exceed client spend and performance targets across direct buys and affiliate networks, ensuring budget pacing aligns with client objectives.
- Operational & Technical Excellence: Maintain clean tracking and reporting across the Everflow and Impact platforms, successfully managing the integration of offline/delayed conversion data.
- Compliance & Brand Safety: Ensure zero regulatory breaches by maintaining strict oversight of publisher messaging and audience alignment.
- Client Satisfaction & Retention: Drive proactive performance insights, ensuring high client confidence in direct media strategies.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in media strategy, planning, and execution, particularly in large-scale, multi-market campaigns.
- Proven track record of managing enterprise affiliate partnerships (such as NerdWallet and Forbes).
- Hands-on experience navigating complex or dual-stack partnership platforms (specifically Impact and Everflow).
- Deep expertise in the technical affiliate ecosystem, including Server-to-Server (S2S) tracking, delayed offline conversion windows, publisher models, and commission structures.
- Experience in regulated industries (e.g., financial services, insurance, education) with longer sales cycles is highly preferred.
- A data-focused mindset with a sharp ability to vet publishers based on specific audience demographic criteria.
- Ability to operate both strategically and tactically, balancing big-picture thinking with hands-on technical execution.
Note: We emphasize skills, expertise and behavioral attributes over years of experience and traditional degrees. If you want to join our collaborative team, we invite you to apply today with your resume in English.

Frame your portfolio around revenue outcomes
Jellyfish evaluates BD candidates on measurable client acquisition and pipeline growth, not just relationship management. Before applying, document deal values, win rates, and revenue contributed so your experience maps directly to what their hiring team is assessing.
Target roles tied to core service lines
Jellyfish organizes business development around specific practice areas like paid media, SEO, and data. Applying to openings aligned with a practice you've sold into previously gives you a credible story and signals you can generate pipeline in that vertical from day one.
Confirm H-1B specialty occupation eligibility early
H-1B approval for BD roles depends on demonstrating specialty occupation status, which USCIS scrutinizes in client-facing commercial roles. A bachelor's degree in marketing, business, or a related field strengthens your petition and helps your employer's attorney build a defensible position.
Align your start date with H-1B cap timelines
If you need a new H-1B, USCIS opens registration in March for an October 1 start date. Structure your offer negotiation with Jellyfish so your intended start date works within that window, or discuss cap-exempt options if you currently hold H-1B status with another employer.
Use Migrate Mate to find open BD roles at Jellyfish
Jellyfish posts Business Development Manager openings across multiple markets and service lines. Use Migrate Mate to filter for Jellyfish roles that have a confirmed H-1B sponsorship history so you're prioritizing applications where your visa pathway is already established.
Request an amended petition when changing role scope
If your BD responsibilities expand significantly after you join Jellyfish, such as moving from a regional to a global remit, USCIS may require an amended H-1B petition. Flag scope changes to your HR contact proactively rather than waiting until contract renewal.

Find Business Development Manager at Jellyfish JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Jellyfish sponsor H-1B visas for Business Development Managers?
Yes, Jellyfish has sponsored H-1B visas for Business Development Manager roles. Because BD positions at a global marketing agency involve specialized knowledge of media, data, and advertising services, they can qualify as specialty occupations under USCIS criteria. Your degree field and the specific duties in your offer letter will shape how the petition is structured.
How do I apply for Business Development Manager jobs at Jellyfish?
You can find open Business Development Manager positions at Jellyfish through Migrate Mate, which surfaces roles with a confirmed H-1B sponsorship track record. When applying, tailor your materials to Jellyfish's service lines and emphasize measurable revenue impact. Expect a multi-stage process covering a competency interview, a commercial case study, and stakeholder conversations.
Which visa types are commonly used for Business Development Manager roles at Jellyfish?
The H-1B is the primary work visa pathway for Business Development Managers at Jellyfish. If you're already in the U.S. on F-1 OPT or STEM OPT, you may be able to start before an H-1B is approved. L-1B is another option if you're transferring internally from a Jellyfish office outside the U.S. in a role involving specialized knowledge.
What qualifications does Jellyfish look for in Business Development Manager candidates?
Jellyfish typically looks for candidates with a bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or communications and a background selling or developing business within agency or marketing technology environments. Experience managing complex sales cycles, building C-suite relationships, and generating pipeline in specific verticals like retail, financial services, or technology carries the most weight.
How long does the H-1B sponsorship process take for a Jellyfish BD role?
Standard H-1B processing through USCIS runs three to five months from petition filing to approval. Premium processing reduces that to roughly two weeks for an additional government fee. Since H-1B cap registrations close in late March and approved petitions start October 1, plan your offer and onboarding timeline with at least six months of lead time if you need a new cap-subject H-1B.
