Align your credentials to NCEES standards
Langan recruits Structural Engineers for project-based consulting work, so having your foreign degree evaluated through NCEES or a recognized credential evaluation service strengthens your application before you apply. Many international candidates skip this step and lose ground to comparably qualified peers.
Target Langan's land development and infrastructure teams
Langan's Structural Engineering openings span site development, transportation, and environmental infrastructure. Framing your resume around mixed-use or infrastructure project experience, rather than purely building structures, matches the type of work their consulting teams actually staff.
Search Langan roles by sponsorship eligibility on Migrate Mate
Filter Langan's Structural Engineer openings on Migrate Mate to surface roles that align with your current visa status, whether you're on OPT, H-1B, or TN. This saves time you'd otherwise spend cold-applying to positions without confirmed sponsorship pathways.
Raise your OPT timeline early in interviews
If you're on F-1 OPT, Langan's recruiting team needs to know your work authorization end date before extending an offer. Bring it up clearly after receiving genuine interest, not at the offer stage, so the H-1B cap-subject timeline doesn't catch their HR process off guard.
Understand how PERM affects your permanent residency path
For Structural Engineers pursuing an EB-2 or EB-3 Green Card through Langan, the DOL's PERM labor certification process requires your employer to document that no equally qualified U.S. worker is available. Recruitment timelines for PERM at consulting firms often run 12 to 18 months before the I-140 petition is filed.
Prepare a project portfolio demonstrating licensed PE readiness
Langan's consulting model values engineers who are on a clear path to Professional Engineer licensure. Documenting your design experience, software proficiency in ETABS or RAM, and hours logged toward PE eligibility signals seniority and reduces employer hesitation around sponsorship investment.

Does Langan Engineering and Environmental Services sponsor H-1B visas for Structural Engineers?
Yes, Langan Engineering and Environmental Services sponsors H-1B visas for Structural Engineers. The company has an established record of supporting international engineers through both cap-subject H-1B filings and extensions. If you're currently on F-1 OPT, Langan can file an H-1B petition on your behalf ahead of the annual April 1 USCIS filing window, subject to the 85,000-slot cap and lottery selection.
How do I apply for Structural Engineer jobs at Langan Engineering and Environmental Services?
You can browse and apply for Structural Engineer roles at Langan through Migrate Mate, which surfaces open positions and filters by visa sponsorship eligibility. Applications typically require a resume, references, and a portfolio of relevant structural project experience. Roles are posted across multiple office locations, so specifying your geographic flexibility in your application improves your chances of matching with an active opening.
Which visa types does Langan Engineering and Environmental Services commonly use for Structural Engineer roles?
Langan sponsors several visa categories for Structural Engineers, including H-1B, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, TN, J-1, and employment-based Green Cards under the EB-2 and EB-3 preference categories. Canadian and Mexican nationals working as engineers may be eligible for TN status, which can be a faster alternative to the H-1B lottery for qualifying applicants.
What qualifications does Langan Engineering and Environmental Services expect for Structural Engineer positions?
Most Structural Engineer openings at Langan require a bachelor's or master's degree in civil or structural engineering from an accredited program. Proficiency in structural analysis software such as ETABS, SAP2000, or RAM Structural System is commonly expected. Candidates on a path toward Professional Engineer licensure are strongly preferred, and project experience in site development, transportation infrastructure, or mixed-use construction is valued across their consulting teams.
How long does the visa sponsorship process typically take for a Structural Engineer joining Langan?
Timeline depends on the visa type. H-1B cap-subject petitions filed in April have an October 1 start date, creating a gap of up to six months from filing to work authorization. TN status for Canadian nationals can be obtained at the border on the day of travel. EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card pathways through DOL PERM typically take two years or more from initial filing to approval, depending on your priority date and country of birth.
