Target STV's infrastructure-heavy project offices
STV staffs heavily for bridge, transit, and public infrastructure work. Filtering your applications toward offices tied to active DOT or transit authority contracts improves your odds, since those projects carry longer timelines and justify the cost of sponsorship.
Get your credential evaluation done before applying
If your engineering degree is from outside the U.S., have a NACES-member organization evaluate it before you submit applications. STV's HR team needs confirmation that your credential meets the specialty occupation standard USCIS requires for H-1B approval.
Clarify the LCA and prevailing wage tier upfront
During offer negotiations, ask which DOL wage level the Labor Condition Application will use. For Structural Engineers at a firm like STV, placement at Level I versus Level II affects your offered salary and signals where the role sits in their seniority structure.
Use Migrate Mate to filter STV openings by visa type
STV posts Structural Engineer roles across multiple locations and project types simultaneously. Use Migrate Mate to surface only the openings where STV has confirmed sponsorship intent, so you're not spending time on postings that won't lead to a filing.
Understand how TN status fits STV's Canadian and Mexican hires
If you're a Canadian or Mexican citizen with a qualifying engineering degree, TN status can get you started at STV without waiting for an H-1B cap cycle. TN renewals are indefinite in theory, but STV will still need to initiate a new filing each time your status expires.

Find Structural Engineer at STV JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does STV sponsor H-1B visas for Structural Engineers?
Yes, STV sponsors H-1B visas for Structural Engineers. The role qualifies as a specialty occupation under USCIS criteria because it requires at minimum a bachelor's degree in civil or structural engineering. STV's infrastructure and transportation project portfolio means demand for this function is consistent, which supports their willingness to file. Be prepared to discuss your degree field and how it directly maps to the position's technical requirements during the interview process.
How do I apply for Structural Engineer jobs at STV?
You can find Structural Engineer openings at STV through their careers portal or through Migrate Mate, which filters STV listings by visa sponsorship type so you can focus on roles where sponsorship is available. When applying, tailor your resume to reflect the specific project type listed in the posting, whether that's bridges, buildings, or transit infrastructure. STV's hiring teams are project-aligned, so matching your experience to the relevant practice area matters.
Which visa types does STV commonly use for Structural Engineer roles?
STV sponsors Structural Engineers through the H-1B, TN, and F-1 OPT and CPT pathways, and also files Green Card petitions under EB-2 and EB-3 classifications for longer-tenured employees. J-1 sponsorship is also available, typically for early-career or exchange roles. The right visa depends on your citizenship, degree level, and how long you've been in the U.S., so it's worth clarifying which pathway applies to your situation before accepting an offer.
What qualifications does STV expect for Structural Engineer positions?
STV's Structural Engineer roles generally require a bachelor's degree in civil or structural engineering, with master's degrees preferred for project engineer and senior-level positions. Familiarity with AISC, ACI, and AASHTO standards is expected across most postings. Professional Engineer licensure is increasingly listed as a requirement rather than a preference, particularly on public infrastructure work. International candidates should have a credential evaluation completed before applying to confirm their degree meets U.S. equivalency standards.
How do I time my H-1B sponsorship process if I'm currently on OPT?
If you're on F-1 OPT, STV would need to file your H-1B petition during the April cap-subject filing window, with an October 1 start date if selected in the lottery. STEM OPT gives you up to 24 additional months of work authorization, which means you may have more than one lottery cycle to work with. Plan your job search to have an offer in place well before the March registration window opens, since USCIS runs the lottery before any petitions are reviewed.
