Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Licensed Practical Nurse Jobs at Mayo Clinic Jobs
Verify your NCLEX-PN before applying
Mayo Clinic requires active state licensure before extending an offer to LPN candidates. Get your NCLEX-PN completed and your license transferred to a Minnesota Nurse Licensure Compact state well before you apply, so nothing delays the sponsorship timeline.
Target Mayo's ambulatory and specialty units
LPN openings at Mayo Clinic cluster in outpatient clinics, specialty care units, and procedural settings rather than acute inpatient floors. Filtering your search to those departments puts you in front of the roles most likely to move quickly through the hiring pipeline.
Use Migrate Mate to find sponsorship-confirmed LPN roles
Not every Mayo Clinic LPN posting will flag visa sponsorship explicitly. Use Migrate Mate to filter for confirmed sponsorship roles at Mayo, so you're only investing time in applications where your visa type is already supported.
Ask HR which visa pathway they intend to file
Mayo Clinic sponsors multiple visa categories for nursing roles. During the offer stage, ask the recruiter directly whether they plan to file H-1B, E-3, or initiate PERM for Green Card sponsorship, so you understand the timeline and any lottery exposure before you accept.
Prepare credential evaluation documents early
If you trained outside the U.S., USCIS and state nursing boards require a foreign credential evaluation from an approved agency. Commission that evaluation as soon as you begin applying, because the review process can take several weeks and will gate your offer paperwork.
Align your application timing with H-1B cap deadlines
H-1B registrations open each March for an October 1 start date. If you're targeting a cap-subject H-1B at Mayo Clinic, time your interviews and offer negotiations to land before the USCIS registration window opens, giving your employer the full lead time to file.

Which visa types does Mayo Clinic commonly use for Licensed Practical Nurse roles?
Mayo Clinic supports H-1B, E-3 for Australian citizens, TN for Canadian and Mexican nationals, and Green Card sponsorship through the EB-2 and EB-3 employment-based preference categories. What qualifications does Mayo Clinic expect for Licensed Practical Nurse candidates?
Mayo Clinic expects candidates to hold an active LPN license in the relevant state, a diploma or certificate from an accredited practical nursing program, and current BLS certification. For international applicants, a credential evaluation confirming your foreign nursing education is equivalent to U.S. standards is required before USCIS or state board review can proceed.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for an LPN position at Mayo Clinic?
Timeline depends on visa type. E-3 and TN sponsorship can move quickly, often within a few weeks of offer acceptance. H-1B sponsorship tied to the annual cap runs on a fixed cycle with an October 1 start date.
