Verify your NCLEX-PN before applying
Trinity Health requires an active, unencumbered LPN license in the state where you'll work. Get your NCLEX-PN results transferred and your state license confirmed before submitting applications, since credential gaps stall offers before sponsorship conversations even begin.
Target post-acute and long-term care openings
Trinity Health's sponsored LPN roles tend to appear in skilled nursing facilities and continuing care communities rather than acute hospital units. Filtering your search to those settings puts you in front of hiring managers with the most consistent need for international candidates.
Use Migrate Mate to surface Trinity Health LPN openings
LPN roles with confirmed sponsorship are scattered across Trinity Health's regional entities and are easy to miss. Migrate Mate surfaces visa-sponsoring positions specifically, so you can filter for Trinity Health openings without wading through listings that don't support work authorization.
Ask HR about TN and J-1 routes early
If you're a Canadian or Mexican national, nursing roles can qualify for TN status under the USMCA professional list. J-1 exchange visitor programs are another pathway Trinity Health has used. Raising both options with the recruiter early can accelerate the offer stage.
Prepare credential evaluation documents in advance
For EB-3 green card sponsorship, PERM labor certification requires your foreign nursing credentials to be evaluated against U.S. equivalency standards. Having a NACES-member evaluation completed before your final interview round prevents weeks of delays once an offer is extended.
Understand the F-1 OPT to H-1B bridge for new graduates
If you're completing a U.S. nursing program on an F-1 visa, Trinity Health can employ you during your OPT period while filing an H-1B petition. USCIS requires the H-1B to be filed before OPT expires, so confirm your employer's filing timeline during the offer negotiation.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Trinity Health sponsor H-1B visas for Licensed Practical Nurses?
Yes, Trinity Health sponsors H-1B visas for Licensed Practical Nurses, though eligibility depends on the specific role, facility, and your current immigration status. LPN positions generally qualify as specialty occupations when a degree in nursing or a related field is required. Trinity Health's HR and legal teams work with candidates to assess H-1B viability during the offer stage, so raising it early in your conversations is the right approach.
How do I apply for Licensed Practical Nurse jobs at Trinity Health?
Applications go through Trinity Health's career portal, where you can search by location, facility type, and role. When you reach the application, be prepared to disclose your work authorization status honestly, since Trinity Health uses E-Verify for all new hires. You can also find Trinity Health LPN openings filtered by visa sponsorship eligibility on Migrate Mate, which removes the guesswork of identifying which listings actively support international candidates.
Which visa types does Trinity Health commonly use for Licensed Practical Nurse roles?
Trinity Health has used H-1B, TN visa, J-1 visa, F-1 OPT, and EB-2 and EB-3 immigrant visa pathways for nursing staff. For permanent residency, EB-3 is the most common route because LPN roles typically align with that classification. TN visa status is available to Canadian and Mexican nationals since registered nursing appears on the USMCA qualifying occupations list, and LPN roles have been approved under it in practice.
What qualifications does Trinity Health expect for Licensed Practical Nurse candidates seeking sponsorship?
You'll need an active LPN license in the state where the role is located, NCLEX-PN passage, and typically at least one year of clinical experience in a relevant setting such as skilled nursing, med-surg, or long-term care. For international candidates, foreign credential evaluations from a NACES-approved organization are required during the PERM process. Strong documentation of supervised clinical hours is important because PERM requires proof that your qualifications meet the posted job requirements.
How long does the visa sponsorship process typically take for an LPN role at Trinity Health?
Timelines vary by pathway. An H-1B petition with premium processing runs around 15 business days from USCIS receipt. An EB-3 green card through PERM typically takes one to three years depending on your country of birth and current visa backlogs. TN status for Canadian nationals can be obtained at the border the same day. Plan your job search timeline around your current visa expiration and discuss filing deadlines with Trinity Health's HR team before accepting an offer.
