Get your PT license transfer ready early
Each state Trinity Health operates in requires a separate physical therapy license. Start the reciprocity or endorsement process for your target state before applying, as licensing delays are the most common reason offer timelines stall for international candidates.
Target Trinity Health's outpatient and rehab openings
Trinity Health fills physical therapy roles across inpatient acute care, skilled nursing facilities, and outpatient clinics. Outpatient and rehab units tend to have higher and more consistent hiring volume, giving you more entry points for a sponsored position.
Confirm your credential evaluation covers the PT scope
For H-1B or EB-3 sponsorship, your foreign PT degree must be evaluated by a NACES-approved agency to verify equivalency to a U.S. master's or doctoral degree. A general evaluation is often not enough; request a course-by-course report that explicitly addresses clinical hours.
Ask directly about H-1B versus EB-3 at the offer stage
Trinity Health sponsors both H-1B and EB-3 pathways. Ask the recruiter which they initiate first for PT roles, since EB-3 PERM filings require DOL-supervised recruitment before your petition can move forward, which affects your start date planning.
Browse Trinity Health PT openings through Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to filter Physical Therapist openings at Trinity Health by location and visa type. This lets you focus on roles where sponsorship has already been extended rather than cold-applying and discovering sponsorship availability late in the process.
Understand your OPT or TN timeline before accepting an offer
If you're working on F-1 OPT, physical therapy qualifies as a STEM-adjacent role for some programs, but confirm your OPT end date against Trinity Health's H-1B filing timeline. TN visa holders should know that TN status must be renewed at the border and cannot be extended from inside the U.S. the way H-1B can.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Trinity Health sponsor H-1B visas for Physical Therapists?
Yes, Trinity Health sponsors H-1B visas for Physical Therapist roles. As a large nonprofit health system, Trinity Health has an established immigration sponsorship process and works with immigration counsel to file petitions for qualifying clinical hires. Your offer letter and state PT license are required before the H-1B petition can be initiated through USCIS.
How do I apply for Physical Therapist jobs at Trinity Health?
You can search and apply for Physical Therapist positions directly through Trinity Health's careers portal or browse their open roles on Migrate Mate, which filters by visa sponsorship availability. When applying, make sure your resume reflects your state licensure status and any specialty certifications relevant to the unit you're targeting, such as orthopedics, neuro, or acute care.
Which visa types does Trinity Health commonly use for Physical Therapist roles?
Trinity Health sponsors H-1B, TN visa, J-1 visa, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, and employment-based Green Card pathways including EB-2 and EB-3 for Physical Therapists. EB-3 is commonly used for permanent sponsorship of PT roles because the position typically qualifies as a professional occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in the field, which satisfies PERM requirements with DOL.
What qualifications does Trinity Health expect for sponsored Physical Therapist positions?
Trinity Health typically requires a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree or equivalent foreign credential evaluated by a NACES-approved agency, an active state PT license in the state where the role is located, and eligibility to work in clinical settings including background checks and health clearances. Some roles specify experience in a particular care setting such as acute inpatient, outpatient ortho, or pediatric rehab.
How long does the sponsorship and hiring process take for Physical Therapists at Trinity Health?
From offer to start date, the process typically spans several months when H-1B sponsorship is involved, accounting for USCIS processing times, premium processing if elected, and state licensing if not already in hand. EB-3 Green Card sponsorship runs longer due to the DOL PERM labor certification stage, which requires a supervised recruitment process before USCIS adjudicates the immigrant petition.
