Verify your NP credentials meet state requirements
Trinity Health operates across multiple states, each with different NP scope-of-practice laws and licensure requirements. Confirm your master's or doctoral degree and board certification align with the specific state where you're applying before submitting any application.
Target Trinity Health's underserved facility locations
Positions at Trinity Health's rural hospitals and federally designated shortage areas are harder to fill and often carry stronger sponsorship support. Prioritizing these openings improves your odds of an employer willing to move through the full visa petition process.
Browse open Nurse Practitioner roles using Migrate Mate
Search Nurse Practitioner openings at Trinity Health filtered by visa type on Migrate Mate so you're only reviewing roles where sponsorship is already confirmed, saving time and avoiding positions that won't move forward for international candidates.
Clarify H-1B cap timing with your recruiter early
H-1B petitions are subject to the annual cap with an October 1 start date, but nonprofit hospital systems like Trinity Health may qualify for cap-exempt filings. Ask your recruiter directly whether your specific position and entity qualify before negotiating a start date.
Prepare your PERM documentation before the offer stage
If your role leads toward an EB-2 or EB-3 Green Card, Trinity Health's legal team will need your foreign credential evaluation, work history, and degree transcripts ready for the DOL's PERM labor certification process. Organizing these documents in advance prevents delays once the petition is filed.
Align your J-1 or TN status with Trinity Health's contract length
TN status for Canadian or Mexican NPs and J-1 clinical exchange positions are tied to specific employment terms. Make sure the contract duration your hiring manager offers is consistent with the authorized period USCIS or the sponsoring exchange program will approve.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Trinity Health sponsor H-1B visas for Nurse Practitioners?
Yes, Trinity Health sponsors H-1B visas for Nurse Practitioners. Because Trinity Health operates as a nonprofit health system, certain facility entities may qualify for cap-exempt H-1B filings, which means petitions can be submitted outside the standard annual lottery window. Confirm cap-exempt eligibility with your recruiter for the specific facility and legal entity attached to your offer.
Which visa types are commonly used for Nurse Practitioner roles at Trinity Health?
Trinity Health sponsors several visa categories for Nurse Practitioners, including H-1B, TN visa (for Canadian and Mexican nationals), J-1 visa for clinical exchange positions, and F-1 OPT or CPT for candidates completing U.S.-based graduate nursing programs. For longer-term pathways, Trinity Health also supports EB-2 and EB-3 immigrant visa petitions, which involve PERM labor certification through the Department of Labor.
How do I apply for Nurse Practitioner jobs at Trinity Health?
You can find and apply for Nurse Practitioner openings at Trinity Health through Migrate Mate, which filters roles by visa sponsorship type so you can focus only on positions relevant to your immigration status. When applying, tailor your materials to the specific specialty and care setting listed, and address your visa status directly in your cover letter so the recruiter can route your application appropriately from the start.
What qualifications does Trinity Health expect for Nurse Practitioner candidates?
Trinity Health expects NP candidates to hold a master's degree or Doctor of Nursing Practice from an accredited program, along with national board certification through ANCC or AANP. Active state licensure in the state where the role is based is required before your start date. Specialty-specific experience is prioritized for acute care, oncology, and cardiology NP openings, while primary care roles may be more open to new graduates.
How do I understand the timeline for visa sponsorship when joining Trinity Health as a Nurse Practitioner?
Timeline depends on visa type. H-1B petitions for cap-subject positions must be filed in April for an October 1 start, but cap-exempt entities can file year-round with USCIS processing taking two to six months. TN status can be obtained at the border or through a consular appointment with a shorter lead time. EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card pathways involve a PERM labor certification process that typically takes one to two years before the immigrant petition stage.
