Verify your NP credentials meet Georgia requirements
Georgia requires Nurse Practitioners to hold active APRN licensure and a national certification from ANCC or AANP. Get both in place before applying, because Emory's credentialing process runs parallel to any visa filing and delays either can stall your start date.
Target Emory's specialty service lines strategically
Emory runs distinct clinical programs in oncology, transplant, and cardiac care that consistently recruit advanced practice providers. Applying to NP roles tied to a specific service line signals clinical focus and increases your odds of landing a hiring manager who actively supports sponsorship.
Understand how TN status applies to your situation
Canadian and Mexican Nurse Practitioners can enter under TN status, which bypasses the H-1B lottery entirely. TN for NPs requires proof of licensure and a qualifying employer letter, and Emory has experience processing this pathway for clinical hires.
Clarify the H-1B filing timeline with your recruiter early
H-1B cap-subject petitions must be filed in April for an October 1 start, so if you receive an offer in late spring or summer, your actual start could be a full year away. Confirm with Emory's HR team whether your role qualifies for cap-exempt filing through its academic medical center affiliation.
Use Migrate Mate to identify open NP roles at Emory
Filter by visa type and role on Migrate Mate to surface active Nurse Practitioner postings at Emory Healthcare. Applying through a curated list of sponsorship-confirmed openings saves time and puts you in front of roles where international candidates are genuinely considered.
Prepare your PERM documentation before the offer stage
If Emory pursues an EB-2 or EB-3 green card for you, the PERM labor certification process requires detailed employment history, degree verification, and foreign credential evaluations. Having these documents organized in advance prevents delays once your employer initiates the DOL filing.

Does Emory Healthcare sponsor H-1B visas for Nurse Practitioners?
Yes, Emory Healthcare sponsors H-1B visas for Nurse Practitioners. Because Emory operates as an academic medical center, some positions may qualify for cap-exempt H-1B filing, which bypasses the annual lottery and allows petitions to be submitted year-round. Confirm cap-exempt eligibility directly with the recruiter when you receive an offer, as it depends on the specific department and funding source.
How do I apply for Nurse Practitioner jobs at Emory Healthcare?
You can browse and apply for Nurse Practitioner positions at Emory Healthcare through Migrate Mate, which filters roles by visa sponsorship type so you can identify openings where international candidates are actively considered. Applications go through Emory's internal talent system, and including your APRN licensure status and visa situation upfront helps the recruiting team assess your candidacy accurately from the start.
Which visa types does Emory Healthcare commonly use for Nurse Practitioner hires?
Emory Healthcare sponsors H-1B visas for most international Nurse Practitioner hires and supports EB-2 and EB-3 green card pathways for longer-term employment. TN status is available to Canadian and Mexican NPs without a lottery requirement. J-1 and F-1 OPT or CPT are also used depending on the candidate's current status and the nature of the clinical role.
What qualifications does Emory Healthcare expect from Nurse Practitioner candidates?
Emory requires a Master of Science in Nursing or Doctor of Nursing Practice, active Georgia APRN licensure, and national board certification through ANCC or AANP. Specialty service lines, including transplant, oncology, and cardiac care, typically expect prior acute care NP experience. International candidates should also have a foreign credential evaluation completed before the credentialing process begins.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for an Emory Nurse Practitioner role?
Timeline depends on the visa pathway. TN status can be obtained at the border or port of entry in a single day for Canadian citizens. H-1B processing under standard USCIS timelines runs several months, and cap-subject petitions require an October 1 start at the earliest. EB-2 or EB-3 green card sponsorship through PERM involves DOL labor certification, which commonly takes one to two years before the petition stage.
