Align your credentials with Georgia licensing requirements
Georgia requires PA licensure through the Georgia Composite Medical Board before you can practice. Start the NCCPA certification and state licensure process early, as credential verification delays are one of the most common reasons offer timelines extend for international candidates.
Target Emory's specialty service lines strategically
Emory Healthcare consistently hires PAs in surgical subspecialties, oncology, and acute care settings. Applying to roles that match your clinical background in those areas increases your chances of reaching a hiring manager who has navigated sponsorship for PAs before.
Confirm sponsorship eligibility before the offer stage
Bring up your visa status directly when a recruiter reaches out, not at the offer stage. Emory's HR team handles sponsorship centrally, so early disclosure lets them loop in the right contacts and avoids delays after you've already completed rounds of interviews.
Understand how the H-1B cap affects your timeline
PA roles typically qualify as specialty occupations under H-1B, but cap-subject petitions are only filed once a year with a USCIS registration window in March. If you're not already cap-exempt, plan your job search timeline so any offer aligns with the annual filing cycle.
Use Migrate Mate to identify open PA roles at Emory Healthcare
Searching broadly across job boards makes it hard to filter for sponsors. Use Migrate Mate to browse Physician Assistant openings at Emory Healthcare specifically filtered by visa type, so you're applying to roles where sponsorship is already confirmed.
Prepare for PERM labor certification if pursuing permanent residence
EB-2 and EB-3 green card pathways for PAs require a DOL PERM labor certification, which involves a prevailing wage determination and a recruitment period. Ask Emory's immigration team early whether they initiate PERM concurrently with or after the initial H-1B approval.

Does Emory Healthcare sponsor H-1B visas for Physician Assistants?
Yes, Emory Healthcare sponsors H-1B visas for Physician Assistant roles. PA positions typically qualify as specialty occupations under H-1B requirements because the role demands at minimum a master's degree or equivalent from an accredited PA program. Sponsorship is handled centrally through Emory's HR and immigration team, so the process is institutional rather than left to individual departments.
How do I apply for Physician Assistant jobs at Emory Healthcare?
Applications go through Emory Healthcare's careers portal. Search for Physician Assistant roles and apply directly with your CV, NCCPA certification, and any relevant clinical licensure documentation. When contacted by a recruiter, disclose your visa status early in the process. Migrate Mate also lists open PA positions at Emory Healthcare filtered by visa sponsorship eligibility, which makes it easier to confirm the role supports international candidates before applying.
Which visa types does Emory Healthcare typically sponsor for Physician Assistant roles?
Emory Healthcare sponsors H-1B visas for PAs as the primary work authorization pathway. They also support TN status for Canadian and Mexican nationals whose PA role qualifies under the USMCA occupational categories, J-1 visas for structured clinical training programs, and F-1 OPT and CPT for candidates completing PA programs at U.S. universities. For long-term candidates, Emory supports EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card petitions.
What qualifications does Emory Healthcare expect for Physician Assistant candidates?
Emory requires graduation from an ARC-PA accredited program, NCCPA certification, and Georgia state licensure or eligibility before your start date. Most posted PA roles specify clinical experience requirements that vary by service line, with surgical and acute care positions often expecting prior inpatient PA experience. DEA registration may also be required depending on the department. International candidates should ensure their credentials are fully verified before initiating the sponsorship process.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for a Physician Assistant offer at Emory Healthcare?
For H-1B, USCIS standard processing runs three to six months, though premium processing can reduce adjudication to 15 business days for an additional fee. The full timeline from offer acceptance to authorization also includes LCA certification through DOL, which typically takes seven to ten business days. If you need an H-1B and aren't already cap-exempt, factor in that the annual registration window opens in March, with employment starting no earlier than October 1 of that fiscal year.
