Obtain credential evaluations before applying
Many Technician roles at Emory Healthcare require licensure or certification recognized in Georgia. If your credentials were earned abroad, get a NACES-approved evaluation early. Delays in credential recognition can stall your start date even after an offer is extended.
Target roles tied to USCIS-defined specialty occupations
Not every Technician title qualifies for H-1B sponsorship. Focus on positions requiring a specific bachelor's degree or its equivalent, such as medical laboratory technician or radiologic technologist roles, where the degree-to-job connection is clear and defensible at USCIS.
Ask HR about LCA filing timelines during interviews
Emory Healthcare must file a Labor Condition Application with the DOL before petitioning USCIS for your H-1B. Ask the recruiter when they plan to initiate this step so your expected start date aligns with realistic processing windows, especially if you're counting on OPT bridging.
Verify your OPT end date against Emory's onboarding cycle
Emory's healthcare hiring timelines in clinical and lab settings often run longer than corporate roles. If you're on F-1 OPT, confirm your authorized end date against the expected offer and onboarding date. A 60-day gap between OPT expiration and H-1B approval can interrupt employment.
Browse open Technician roles using Migrate Mate
Emory Healthcare posts Technician openings across specialties and campuses at different times of year. Use Migrate Mate to filter for Emory Healthcare positions that match your visa type so you're only pursuing roles where sponsorship is a realistic outcome.
Understand PERM requirements for EB-2 and EB-3 paths
If Emory initiates a Green Card process for your Technician role, it typically starts with PERM labor certification through DOL. This process requires Emory to advertise your position publicly. Ask your immigration contact whether your role classifies under EB-2 or EB-3 before the process begins.

Find Technician at Emory Healthcare JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Emory Healthcare sponsor H-1B visas for Technicians?
Yes, Emory Healthcare sponsors H-1B visas for Technician roles where the position qualifies as a specialty occupation under USCIS criteria. This generally means the job requires at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field, such as clinical laboratory science or diagnostic imaging. Not every Technician title meets this threshold, so confirming the role's classification with the recruiter before applying is practical.
Which visa types are commonly used for Technician roles at Emory Healthcare?
H-1B is the most common nonimmigrant visa used for qualifying Technician positions at Emory Healthcare. F-1 OPT and CPT are also supported for students and recent graduates in eligible programs. TN visas may apply to Canadian or Mexican nationals in specific technical classifications. For longer-term pathways, Emory has supported EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card sponsorship for Technicians in ongoing roles.
How do I apply for Technician jobs at Emory Healthcare?
Applications go through Emory Healthcare's careers portal, where roles are posted by department and campus. You can also use Migrate Mate to browse current Technician openings at Emory filtered by visa sponsorship type, which saves time compared to manually reviewing general job boards. When applying, tailor your resume to the specific technical certification or licensure listed in the job description, as Emory's clinical teams screen closely for those qualifications.
What qualifications are expected for Technician roles at Emory Healthcare?
Requirements vary by specialty. Clinical laboratory and surgical technician roles typically require an accredited program certificate or associate's to bachelor's degree, plus relevant national certification such as ASCP or ARRT. Imaging and radiology technologist positions usually require Georgia licensure. For H-1B eligibility, the position also needs to demonstrably require a specific bachelor's degree or equivalent, which stronger candidates often support with a credential evaluation.
How do I navigate the visa filing timeline after receiving an offer from Emory Healthcare?
After an offer, Emory's HR team typically works with an immigration attorney to file the Labor Condition Application with DOL before submitting the H-1B petition to USCIS. Standard USCIS processing takes several months, though premium processing can shorten this window significantly. If you're on OPT, confirm whether your remaining authorized period covers the gap. Cap-subject H-1B filings must align with the April 1 filing window, so offer timing matters.
