Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Medical Assistant Jobs at Emory Healthcare Jobs
Certify Your CMA Credential Before Applying
Emory Healthcare expects Medical Assistant candidates to hold a current CMA or RMA certification from AAMA or AMT. Getting certified before you apply removes a common early screening obstacle and signals you meet the clinical baseline their hiring teams screen for.
Target Ambulatory and Clinic Postings Specifically
Emory's Medical Assistant openings span hospital floors and outpatient clinics, but ambulatory care postings tend to have more predictable sponsorship pathways. Search for roles tied to Emory's specialty clinics, where staffing needs are consistent and sponsorship decisions move faster.
Use Migrate Mate to Filter Verified Sponsorship Openings
Not every Emory job posting signals visa sponsorship eligibility. Use Migrate Mate to surface Medical Assistant roles at Emory Healthcare that are verified against DOL Labor Condition Application filings, so you're applying where sponsorship is actually on the table.
Align Your OPT Start Date With Emory's Hiring Cycle
Emory Healthcare runs rolling clinical hiring, but onboarding for new Medical Assistants typically follows credentialing and background check timelines that can run four to six weeks. If you're on F-1 OPT, account for this gap so your employment authorization covers your actual start date.
Clarify H-1B Specialty Occupation Status Early
USCIS scrutinizes H-1B petitions for Medical Assistant roles because the position can fall outside specialty occupation definitions if the employer doesn't document degree requirements carefully. Confirm with Emory's HR team that the specific posting requires a relevant bachelor's degree before advancing.
Prepare a State Licensure Timeline for Your Offer Negotiation
Georgia does not require Medical Assistants to hold a state license, but Emory's credentialing process still requires documented clinical training hours and background clearance. Having your verification documents ready at the offer stage prevents delays in the employer's USCIS petition filing timeline.

Find Medical Assistant at Emory Healthcare JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Emory Healthcare sponsor H-1B visas for Medical Assistants?
Yes, Emory Healthcare sponsors H-1B visas for Medical Assistant roles, though approval depends on whether the specific position qualifies as a specialty occupation under USCIS standards. The role typically needs to require a bachelor's degree in a relevant field. Confirm degree requirements with the hiring team before investing time in the application process.
How do I apply for Medical Assistant jobs at Emory Healthcare?
Apply directly through Emory Healthcare's careers portal at careers.emoryhealthcare.org. Search for Medical Assistant under clinical or support roles and filter by location or department. You can also use Migrate Mate to identify Emory Medical Assistant postings with a documented sponsorship history, which helps you prioritize roles where visa support is more likely.
Which visa types does Emory Healthcare commonly use for Medical Assistant roles?
Emory Healthcare supports several visa categories for Medical Assistants, including H-1B for degree-holding candidates, F-1 OPT and CPT for students in clinical programs, TN for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying occupations, and J-1 for exchange visitors in clinical training programs. EB-2 and EB-3 immigrant visa sponsorship is also available for longer-term permanent residency pathways.
What qualifications does Emory Healthcare expect for Medical Assistant candidates seeking sponsorship?
Emory Healthcare typically looks for candidates with a CMA or RMA certification from an accredited program such as AAMA or AMT, along with hands-on clinical experience in patient intake, vital signs, and basic procedures. For H-1B sponsorship specifically, the role must be tied to a position requiring at minimum a relevant bachelor's degree, so candidates with advanced clinical training or degrees in health sciences are better positioned.
How long does the sponsorship and hiring process take for Medical Assistant roles at Emory Healthcare?
From offer acceptance to start date, expect four to eight weeks for credentialing, background checks, and onboarding. If H-1B sponsorship is involved, your employer must file a Labor Condition Application with the DOL before submitting the USCIS petition, which adds several weeks. Cap-subject H-1B petitions follow USCIS's lottery schedule with an October 1 start date, while cap-exempt filings can be processed year-round.
