Verify your NP license covers Washington State
MultiCare operates primarily in Washington, so your Nurse Practitioner license must be valid there before sponsorship paperwork begins. Washington participates in the Nurse Licensure Compact, which can speed up the credentialing step if you're already licensed in a compact state.
Target MultiCare's shortage-area clinic openings
MultiCare staffs federally designated Health Professional Shortage Areas across the Puget Sound and Inland Northwest regions. Roles in those locations tend to move faster through internal approval processes and are more likely to carry employer-initiated sponsorship from the outset.
Align your specialty to MultiCare's service lines
MultiCare actively recruits NPs for primary care, oncology, cardiology, and urgent care. Framing your application around one of these service lines increases your chances of reaching a hiring manager who has already secured budget approval for a sponsored position.
Confirm H-1B cap-exempt status through MultiCare's nonprofit affiliations
MultiCare Health System operates as a nonprofit health system. Employers affiliated with qualifying nonprofit or government research entities may be cap-exempt, meaning USCIS could process your H-1B petition outside the annual lottery. Clarify this directly with MultiCare's HR or legal team before the April filing window.
Request a clear PERM timeline before signing an offer
If MultiCare sponsors you on an EB-2 or EB-3 pathway, PERM labor certification through DOL adds months to the process. Ask the recruiter at the offer stage which green card category they typically use for NP roles and whether PERM recruitment has already started.
Use Migrate Mate to filter open NP roles by visa type
MultiCare posts Nurse Practitioner openings across multiple locations and specialties. Migrate Mate lets you filter those listings by the visa categories MultiCare sponsors, so you're only applying to positions where your immigration status is already supported.

Does MultiCare Health System sponsor H-1B visas for Nurse Practitioners?
Yes, MultiCare Health System sponsors H-1B visas for Nurse Practitioners. As a nonprofit health system, MultiCare may qualify for cap-exempt H-1B filing status, which would allow petitions to be submitted to USCIS outside the annual lottery. Confirm the cap-exempt designation directly with MultiCare's HR team, as it depends on the specific facility and any affiliated research or educational entity.
How do I apply for Nurse Practitioner jobs at MultiCare Health System?
Applications go through MultiCare's careers portal, where you can filter by role type and location. Before applying, confirm that the specific posting supports visa sponsorship, since not every opening is approved for international candidates. Migrate Mate surfaces MultiCare's Nurse Practitioner openings filtered by visa type, so you can identify sponsorship-eligible roles before investing time in the application.
Which visa types does MultiCare Health System commonly use to sponsor Nurse Practitioners?
MultiCare sponsors Nurse Practitioners on several visa pathways, including H-1B, TN for Canadian and Mexican nationals, J-1 for candidates in exchange visitor programs, and F-1 OPT and CPT for recent graduates. For permanent residency, MultiCare has used EB-2 and EB-3 labor certification routes. The most appropriate pathway depends on your nationality, degree level, and how quickly the role needs to be filled.
What qualifications does MultiCare Health System expect from Nurse Practitioner candidates seeking visa sponsorship?
MultiCare requires a Master of Science in Nursing or Doctor of Nursing Practice, an active Washington State Nurse Practitioner license, and national certification through ANCC or AANP. Most sponsored positions also require prescriptive authority and two or more years of clinical experience in a relevant specialty. Candidates coming from outside the U.S. should have their foreign credentials evaluated by a NACES-approved organization before applying.
How long does the visa sponsorship process typically take for a Nurse Practitioner at MultiCare?
Timeline depends heavily on visa type. H-1B standard processing runs three to five months after USCIS receives the petition, while premium processing shortens that to roughly 15 business days. TN status for Canadian nationals can be obtained at a port of entry on the start date. EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card pathways require PERM labor certification through DOL first, which adds six months to over a year before USCIS even reviews the immigrant petition.
