Credential your foreign clinical qualifications early
U.S. healthcare employers require state licensure before you can practice, and MultiCare is no exception. Start the credential evaluation and state board process well before applying, clinical licensing timelines can stretch several months and directly affect your start date.
Target MultiCare's high-volume clinical departments
MultiCare's sponsorship activity clusters around nursing, therapy, and specialist physician roles across its regional hospital network. Focus your applications on posted roles in those disciplines, where hiring managers have the most experience moving sponsored candidates through the offer process.
Understand which visa fits your clinical role
MultiCare sponsors H-1B, TN, J-1, and Green Card pathways, but eligibility depends on your role and nationality. A registered nurse from Canada may qualify for TN status, while a physician specialist will likely need H-1B or J-1 sponsorship. Clarify the right pathway before your first recruiter call.
Ask recruiters about PERM timing for permanent roles
For EB-2 or EB-3 Green Card sponsorship, the PERM labor certification process with DOL can take over a year before USCIS even receives a petition. If long-term U.S. residency is your goal, raise this with MultiCare's HR team during the offer stage, not after you've accepted.
Use Migrate Mate to filter open MultiCare roles by visa type
MultiCare posts healthcare roles across multiple locations and specialties. Use Migrate Mate to filter specifically for positions at MultiCare that align with your visa category, so you're only spending time on roles where sponsorship is genuinely on the table.
Align your J-1 waiver status before accepting a clinical offer
If you completed a J-1 residency or fellowship with a two-year home residency requirement, MultiCare will need to sponsor a waiver before you can work there on another visa. Confirm your J-1 obligation and waiver options with an immigration attorney before the offer stage to avoid delays.

Does MultiCare Health System sponsor H-1B visas for Healthcares?
Yes, MultiCare Health System sponsors H-1B visas for qualifying healthcare roles, particularly in specialty clinical positions where a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific field is required. Because H-1B sponsorship involves USCIS petitions and, for most candidates, the annual lottery, you'll want to confirm sponsorship intent with the recruiter early in the process and understand the April filing deadline.
How do I apply for Healthcare jobs at MultiCare Health System?
You can search and apply for healthcare roles directly through MultiCare's careers portal. For the most targeted approach, use Migrate Mate to browse open MultiCare positions filtered by visa sponsorship type, then apply through the official posting. Include your visa status and intended category clearly in your application or recruiter outreach to avoid mismatches late in the process.
Which visa types does MultiCare Health System commonly use for Healthcare roles?
MultiCare sponsors across several visa categories depending on the role and your background. H-1B is common for specialty clinical and allied health positions. TN is available for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying healthcare occupations. J-1 is used for physicians in residency or fellowship programs. EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card pathways are available for longer-term permanent placements in clinical roles.
What qualifications does MultiCare Health System expect for sponsored Healthcare roles?
Expectations vary by role, but most sponsored clinical positions require U.S. state licensure or eligibility, a degree in a directly relevant healthcare field, and demonstrated clinical experience. For specialty physician and therapy roles, board certification or equivalent credentialing is typically required. Roles requiring H-1B sponsorship must meet the USCIS specialty occupation standard, meaning a specific bachelor's degree or higher is a minimum requirement of the position itself.
How do I time my application to align with MultiCare's sponsorship and visa filing process?
Timing depends heavily on your visa category. H-1B petitions must be filed by early April for an October 1 start, so you'll need an offer in hand by March. TN status can be obtained at the border with far more flexibility. PERM-based Green Card cases take the longest, often 18 months or more from start to approval. Discuss your target start date and current status with MultiCare's HR team before the offer is finalized.
