Tips for Finding Nursing Jobs at MultiCare Health System
Verify Your NCLEX and Credential Equivalency Early
MultiCare requires RN licensure in Washington State before you can start. If your nursing degree is from outside the U.S., get a credential evaluation through a NACES-approved body before applying so licensing delays don't stall your offer.
Target Roles With Documented Sponsorship History
MultiCare sponsors across multiple visa types for nursing, but not every posting reflects that. Search Migrate Mate's employer database to filter MultiCare's active nursing openings by visa type and confirm which roles have active sponsorship support before investing time in your application.
Understand How TN Status Applies to Nursing
TN classification covers nurses who are Canadian citizens under USMCA. If you qualify, this is a faster path than H-1B with no lottery. You can apply at a U.S. port of entry with a valid job offer letter and proof of Canadian citizenship and nursing credentials.
Ask Recruiters About EB-3 Filing Timelines Upfront
MultiCare sponsors EB-2 and EB-3 Green Cards for nursing roles. Because PERM labor certification and DOL processing add significant time before USCIS adjudicates the petition, ask the recruiter during your first interview whether sponsorship is tied to a specific service commitment or start date.
Negotiate Cap-Exempt Status Into Your H-1B Discussion
Nonprofit and government-affiliated hospitals can qualify as cap-exempt H-1B employers, bypassing the annual lottery entirely. Confirm early in the offer stage whether MultiCare's specific entity is cap-exempt, as this changes both filing timing and your start date flexibility significantly.
Use OPT Strategically to Bridge Into Sponsorship
If you're on F-1 OPT after completing a U.S. nursing program, starting at MultiCare during OPT gives the organization time to assess your fit before committing to H-1B sponsorship. Build that relationship proactively so sponsorship is initiated before your OPT authorization lapses.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does MultiCare Health System sponsor H-1B visas for Nurses?
Yes, MultiCare Health System sponsors H-1B visas for qualifying nursing roles. The H-1B requires your position to meet specialty occupation standards, which typically means holding at least a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. If MultiCare qualifies as a cap-exempt employer under its nonprofit or government affiliation, filings can happen outside the annual USCIS lottery window, which is a meaningful advantage for nurses who can't wait for an April registration cycle.
How do I apply for Nursing jobs at MultiCare Health System?
Start by browsing open roles on MultiCare's careers portal and filtering by department or location across their Washington State facilities. Before applying, confirm the role supports your visa type, since not every posting includes sponsorship details upfront. Migrate Mate lets you filter MultiCare's nursing openings by visa category so you're only targeting positions where sponsorship is confirmed, which saves time and avoids late-stage surprises with recruiters.
Which visa types does MultiCare Health System commonly use for Nursing roles?
MultiCare sponsors a range of visa types for nursing, including H-1B, TN visa (for Canadian citizens under USMCA), J-1 visa for exchange visitor nurses, and F-1 OPT and CPT for recent U.S. nursing graduates. For permanent residency, they support EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card pathways, which typically involve PERM labor certification through the DOL before USCIS adjudicates the immigrant petition.
What qualifications does MultiCare Health System expect for sponsored Nursing positions?
MultiCare expects active RN licensure in Washington State, which requires passing the NCLEX-RN. For H-1B eligibility specifically, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing is the standard credential. International nurses with three-year degrees may need a NACES-approved equivalency evaluation to confirm their education meets U.S. requirements. Clinical experience in acute care, specialty units, or high-acuity settings strengthens your application for most inpatient roles across MultiCare's network.
How long does the visa sponsorship process typically take at a health system like MultiCare?
Timeline depends heavily on visa type. H-1B cap-subject petitions follow USCIS's April lottery and October 1 start date cycle, so plan for a six-to-twelve month runway from application to start date. TN status for Canadian nurses can be granted same-day at a port of entry. EB-3 Green Card sponsorship is longer, often two to four years or more depending on your country of birth and PERM processing at the DOL. Confirm which pathway applies before accepting an offer.
