Match Your Licensure to Washington State Requirements
MultiCare operates primarily in Washington State, so confirm your mental health credentials are eligible for Washington licensure before applying. Unlicensed candidates often face delays if credential verification with the Washington State Department of Health takes longer than expected.
Prioritize Roles Requiring a Specific Clinical Degree
H-1B eligibility for mental health roles depends on the position qualifying as a specialty occupation. Roles explicitly requiring a master's or doctoral degree in counseling, social work, or psychology are your strongest targets at MultiCare.
Search Open Positions Directly Through Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to filter MultiCare Health System's current mental health openings by visa type. This surfaces roles where sponsorship has been supported before, saving you time spent applying to positions outside their sponsorship scope.
Ask About the LCA Filing Timeline During Offers
Once you receive an offer, ask MultiCare's HR team when they expect to file the Labor Condition Application with DOL. LCA certification typically takes seven business days, and your start date cannot precede that approval.
Prepare a Credential Evaluation for Non-U.S. Degrees
If your mental health degree is from outside the United States, get a NACES-member evaluation completed before interviewing. MultiCare's credentialing process will require it, and having it ready signals you're serious and prepared.

Find Mental Health at MultiCare Health System JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does MultiCare Health System sponsor H-1B visas for Mental Healths?
Yes, MultiCare Health System sponsors H-1B visas for qualifying mental health roles. Positions that require a specific graduate degree, such as a master's in clinical social work or a doctorate in psychology, are the most straightforward H-1B candidates. Roles where a general bachelor's degree satisfies the requirement may face more scrutiny from USCIS on specialty occupation grounds.
How do I apply for Mental Health jobs at MultiCare Health System?
Apply directly through MultiCare's careers portal or browse their open mental health positions on Migrate Mate, which filters roles by visa sponsorship eligibility. Before submitting, confirm your clinical licensure is active or in progress in Washington State, and tailor your application to the specific clinical population and setting each role serves.
Which visa types does MultiCare Health System commonly use for Mental Health roles?
MultiCare has supported H-1B, TN, J-1, F-1 OPT, and Green Card pathways including EB-2 and EB-3 for mental health positions. J-1 visas are common for clinical training placements, while H-1B is the standard route for full-time employment. TN status is available to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying mental health occupations under USMCA.
What qualifications does MultiCare Health System expect for Mental Health positions?
Most licensed mental health roles at MultiCare require a master's degree or higher in a relevant clinical field, active Washington State licensure or license eligibility, and supervised clinical hours completed in your home country or the U.S. Roles in psychiatric settings may also require experience with specific populations, such as children and adolescents or crisis intervention.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for a Mental Health role at MultiCare?
From offer acceptance to approved work authorization, the timeline depends on your visa type. An H-1B filed in the April cap season means you cannot start until October 1 at the earliest. TN status for eligible nationals can be obtained at the border the same day. PERM-based Green Card sponsorship through EB-2 or EB-3 typically takes one to several years depending on your country of birth.
