Verify your credentials meet state licensure requirements
Trinity Health operates across multiple states, each with different licensure rules for LCSWs, LPCs, and psychologists. Confirm your foreign degree has been evaluated by a NACES-approved service and check the specific state board requirements before you apply.
Target Trinity Health's outpatient and community health roles
Trinity Health's mental health openings span inpatient psychiatric units and community behavioral health centers. Outpatient and community roles often have more scheduling flexibility, which can make the sponsorship conversation easier when you're negotiating start dates around visa timelines.
Ask HR directly about J-1 waiver Conrad 30 slots
Trinity Health operates facilities in underserved areas that qualify for Conrad 30 J-1 waiver slots. If you're completing a psychiatry residency or fellowship on a J-1, ask the hiring team early whether the specific facility has open waiver slots before advancing in the process.
Use Migrate Mate to filter open Mental Health roles by sponsorship type
Trinity Health posts Mental Health positions across many regional markets at once. Use Migrate Mate to filter roles by the visa categories you need, so you're applying to positions where sponsorship is already confirmed rather than guessing from a generic job posting.
Align your offer letter timeline with USCIS H-1B filing windows
H-1B cap-subject petitions must be filed in April for an October 1 start date. If Trinity Health extends an offer outside that window, discuss a cap-exempt filing through a nonprofit or teaching hospital affiliate, or request an F-1 OPT extension to bridge the gap.
Confirm PERM eligibility before accepting a permanent role offer
If your goal is a Green Card through EB-2 or EB-3, Trinity Health's HR team will need to run a PERM labor market test through the DOL before filing your immigrant petition. Clarify whether the specific role qualifies for PERM sponsorship during the offer negotiation stage, not after signing.

Find Mental Health at Trinity Health JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Trinity Health sponsor H-1B visas for Mental Healths?
Yes, Trinity Health sponsors H-1B visas for qualifying Mental Health roles. Positions that require a specific clinical degree, such as a licensed clinical social worker, psychologist, or psychiatric nurse practitioner role, generally meet USCIS specialty occupation standards. You'll need a valid job offer and a state license or eligibility before the petition can be filed.
How do I apply for Mental Health jobs at Trinity Health?
Applications go through Trinity Health's careers portal, where roles are listed by region and facility. Because Trinity Health operates across many states, postings vary significantly by location. Migrate Mate lets you browse confirmed sponsorship-eligible Mental Health openings at Trinity Health filtered by visa type, which saves time compared to sorting through the full careers portal manually.
Which visa types does Trinity Health commonly use for Mental Health roles?
Trinity Health sponsors H-1B visas for specialty occupation clinical roles, TN visas for eligible Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying mental health professions, J-1 visas for physicians and fellows, and F-1 OPT and CPT for recent graduates. For permanent sponsorship, EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card pathways are available for roles that meet DOL PERM requirements.
What qualifications does Trinity Health expect for Mental Health positions?
Most clinical Mental Health roles at Trinity Health require a relevant master's or doctoral degree, active state licensure or eligibility for licensure in the state of employment, and direct clinical experience. Roles such as LCSW, LPC, psychologist, and psychiatric nurse practitioner each carry different degree and supervised hours requirements depending on the state where the facility is located.
How do I time my visa sponsorship process when targeting Trinity Health?
If you need an H-1B, target offers finalized by February or March to allow time for cap registration in April and an October 1 start. If you're on F-1 OPT, confirm your expiration date and request that HR align the I-129 filing with your remaining authorized period. J-1 waiver applicants should initiate Conrad 30 inquiries at least six months before their program end date.
