Align your licensure before applying
Washington State requires active licensure for most Mental Health roles, including LICSW, LMHC, or licensed psychologist credentials. Confirm your credential is transferable or in process before submitting an application, since Sea Mar's hiring timelines often move faster than licensure processing.
Target bilingual postings for stronger candidacy
Sea Mar consistently hires Mental Health staff who can serve Spanish-speaking and other non-English-speaking communities. Highlighting bilingual clinical skills in your application directly addresses the organization's mission and increases your competitiveness against candidates who need sponsorship.
Clarify TN eligibility if you hold a Canadian or Mexican degree
TN status covers certain Mental Health roles including psychologists and social workers, but the qualifying job title must match DOL's USMCA occupation list precisely. Confirm with your employer how Sea Mar will classify your position before accepting an offer.
Use Migrate Mate to filter open Mental Health roles
Sea Mar posts Mental Health openings across multiple clinic sites simultaneously, which makes it easy to miss relevant positions. Use Migrate Mate to browse and filter Sea Mar's current Mental Health listings by visa type so you can focus on roles that match your sponsorship situation.
Request H-1B filing timelines early in the offer stage
H-1B cap-subject filings require USCIS registration in March for an October 1 start date. If you receive an offer outside a cap-exempt pathway, ask Sea Mar's HR team immediately whether they plan to register you in the next lottery cycle so you can plan accordingly.
Prepare PERM documentation if you're pursuing long-term status
Sea Mar has sponsored EB-2 and EB-3 Green Cards for clinical staff. The PERM labor certification process through DOL requires detailed documentation of your credentials and job duties. Gathering degree evaluations, license certificates, and employment records before your first day saves weeks later.

Does Sea Mar Community Health Centers sponsor H-1B visas for Mental Healths?
Yes, Sea Mar Community Health Centers sponsors H-1B visas for qualifying Mental Health roles. As a federally qualified health center, Sea Mar may qualify for cap-exempt H-1B filings in some circumstances, which means sponsorship is not always tied to the annual USCIS lottery and October start date. Confirm cap-exempt status with the HR team during your offer negotiation.
How do I apply for Mental Health jobs at Sea Mar Community Health Centers?
You can browse current Mental Health openings at Sea Mar through Migrate Mate, which filters listings by visa sponsorship type so you can identify roles that match your situation before applying. When you apply, emphasize your licensure status, any bilingual clinical skills, and your availability to serve underserved communities, since those factors align directly with Sea Mar's hiring priorities.
Which visa types does Sea Mar Community Health Centers commonly use for Mental Health roles?
Sea Mar sponsors H-1B visas for specialty occupation Mental Health roles, TN status for eligible Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying clinical classifications, and F-1 OPT and CPT for students completing supervised clinical hours. For long-term staff, Sea Mar has also supported EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card petitions through the PERM labor certification process at the DOL.
What qualifications does Sea Mar Community Health Centers expect for Mental Health positions?
Most Mental Health roles require a master's or doctoral degree in social work, counseling, psychology, or a related clinical field, along with active Washington State licensure such as LICSW, LMHC, or licensed psychologist. Sea Mar frequently prioritizes candidates with experience in community health settings and those who can deliver services in Spanish or other languages spoken by the communities it serves.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for a Mental Health role at Sea Mar?
Timeline depends on the visa type. H-1B cap-subject sponsorship follows USCIS's annual registration window each March, with employment beginning October 1 at the earliest. TN status can often be obtained at the border within days of receiving a qualifying job offer. PERM-based Green Card sponsorship typically takes one to three years depending on your country of birth and DOL processing backlogs.
