Verify your licensure transfers to Minnesota
Mental Health roles at Fairview require state licensure, so confirm your LICSW, LPCC, or equivalent credential is transferable before applying. The Minnesota Board of Social Work and BBHT process endorsement applications that can take months to finalize.
Target Fairview's outpatient and community sites
Fairview staffs Mental Health positions across both hospital-based and community clinics. Outpatient behavioral health sites often have longer-term openings that support multi-year visa sponsorship, including H-1B renewals and eventual PERM-based Green Card filing.
Find sponsored Mental Health openings through Migrate Mate
Search Migrate Mate to filter Fairview's Mental Health postings by visa type. This surfaces roles where sponsorship is explicitly available, saving time you'd otherwise spend emailing HR contacts to confirm eligibility before applying.
Ask HR about PERM timing during the offer stage
Once you have an offer, ask directly whether Fairview initiates the DOL PERM process alongside H-1B sponsorship. Some healthcare systems wait years before filing PERM, which affects your long-term status planning significantly.
Document supervised clinical hours for credential verification
Fairview's credentialing process for Mental Health roles reviews supervised practice hours, not just degrees. Gather records from previous employers or training programs early, since missing documentation is the most common cause of delays in healthcare hiring pipelines.
Align your OPT or CPT timeline with Fairview's hiring cycle
If you're on F-1 OPT, Fairview's credentialing and onboarding for Mental Health roles can take 60 to 90 days. Apply several months before your OPT expiration to leave room for the offer, licensing verification, and any USCIS processing your employer initiates.

Does Fairview Health Services sponsor H-1B visas for Mental Healths?
Yes, Fairview Health Services sponsors H-1B visas for Mental Health professionals in qualifying specialty occupation roles. Positions typically require a master's or doctoral degree in social work, counseling, psychology, or a related clinical field. Sponsorship is most common for licensed clinical roles in outpatient, inpatient, and community behavioral health settings across Fairview's Minnesota network.
How do I apply for Mental Health jobs at Fairview Health Services?
You can browse and apply for Mental Health positions directly through Fairview's careers portal. To filter specifically for roles open to visa sponsorship, Migrate Mate lists Fairview's sponsored Mental Health openings in one place, so you're not spending time applying to postings that won't support your immigration status. Most roles require an active Minnesota clinical license before your start date.
Which visa types does Fairview Health Services commonly use for Mental Health roles?
Fairview sponsors H-1B visas most frequently for Mental Health professionals, given the specialty occupation requirements of clinical roles. The company also works with F-1 OPT and CPT for eligible candidates still in their training period, and pursues EB-2 or EB-3 Green Card sponsorship through the PERM labor certification process for longer-term hires. TN classification is available for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying mental health occupations.
What qualifications does Fairview Health Services expect for Mental Health positions?
Most Mental Health roles at Fairview require a master's degree at minimum in social work, clinical psychology, counseling, or marriage and family therapy. Active licensure in Minnesota, such as an LICSW, LMFT, or LPCC, is typically required before your start date rather than at application. Fairview's credentialing team independently verifies supervised clinical hours and training background, so having those records organized ahead of an offer is practical preparation.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for a Mental Health role at Fairview?
For H-1B sponsorship, USCIS standard processing runs three to five months after filing, though premium processing can reduce that to 15 business days for an additional fee. On top of that, Fairview's internal credentialing and onboarding for clinical roles typically adds 60 to 90 days. If you're pursuing a Green Card through PERM, the DOL labor certification stage alone runs six months to over a year before USCIS petition filing begins.
