Tips for Finding Registered Nurse Jobs at Fairview Health Services
Get your NCLEX and credentials verified early
Before Fairview can move your application forward, you'll need a valid U.S. RN license and a CGFNS or equivalent credential evaluation. Start the state licensure process in Minnesota well before you begin applying, as delays here stall everything downstream.
Target Fairview's hospital units with chronic staffing needs
Fairview consistently fills RN roles across acute care, med-surg, and specialty units at facilities like M Health Fairview University of Minnesota Medical Center. Applying to units with ongoing openings puts you in front of hiring managers who are already accustomed to sponsorship conversations.
Clarify which visa pathway fits your situation upfront
Fairview sponsors H-1B, TN, and employment-based Green Card pathways including EB-2 and EB-3, along with F-1 OPT and CPT. Understanding which category applies to your nationality and current status before your interview helps you frame the conversation clearly and avoids back-and-forth with HR later.
Ask HR about their PERM timeline during the offer stage
For EB-3 sponsorship, Fairview must complete a PERM labor certification through the DOL before filing your immigrant petition. This process can take a year or more, so asking early about where they are in that process helps you set realistic expectations and plan your status accordingly.
Use Migrate Mate to find active Registered Nurse openings at Fairview
Fairview posts RN roles across multiple facilities and specialties at different times. Browse current Fairview Registered Nurse listings on Migrate Mate to identify which units are hiring and filter by visa type so you're only applying where sponsorship is confirmed.
Confirm your OPT end date before accepting a TN or H-1B offer
If you're on F-1 OPT, your work authorization has a fixed expiration. Coordinate your start date and Fairview's H-1B or TN filing timeline carefully so there's no gap in your employment authorization before USCIS processes the new petition.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Fairview Health Services sponsor H-1B visas for Registered Nurses?
Yes, Fairview Health Services sponsors H-1B visas for Registered Nurses. RN roles qualify as specialty occupations under H-1B requirements because the position typically requires at least a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. You'll need a valid Minnesota RN license and a job offer in hand before Fairview can file the H-1B petition with USCIS on your behalf.
How do I apply for Registered Nurse jobs at Fairview Health Services?
Applications go through Fairview's careers portal, where roles are listed by facility, unit, and shift. Before applying, confirm your NCLEX licensure is active in Minnesota and that your credential evaluation is complete. Tailoring your application to a specific unit, such as acute care or a specialty service line, gives you a stronger foothold than submitting a general expression of interest.
Which visa types does Fairview Health Services commonly use for Registered Nurses?
Fairview sponsors H-1B and TN visas for temporary work authorization, and EB-2 or EB-3 Green Card pathways for permanent residency. F-1 OPT and CPT are also supported for nursing graduates finishing their U.S. clinical training. The right pathway depends on your nationality, current immigration status, and how quickly you need to begin employment.
What qualifications does Fairview Health Services expect for sponsored Registered Nurse roles?
Fairview typically requires a BSN, an active and unencumbered Minnesota RN license, and BLS certification at minimum. Many posted roles also specify ACLS or specialty certifications depending on the unit. International applicants should have a credential evaluation from CGFNS or an equivalent body and be prepared to demonstrate clinical experience relevant to the unit they're targeting.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for a Registered Nurse at Fairview?
Timelines vary by visa type. An H-1B with premium processing through USCIS can be adjudicated in two to three weeks, while standard processing runs several months. EB-3 Green Card sponsorship through PERM is a multi-year process. TN status for Canadian or Mexican nurses is often the fastest path. Align your offer acceptance and start date to your current status expiration to avoid gaps in authorization. You can browse Fairview's open RN roles filtered by visa type on Migrate Mate to find positions where sponsorship is already confirmed.
