Verify Your Credentials Meet State Licensing Standards
Minnesota requires full medical licensure before you can practice at Fairview facilities. Start the Medical Board application early, credential verification for international medical graduates can take several months and must be complete before any offer is finalized.
Target Fairview's Underserved and Specialty Gaps
Fairview operates community clinics and regional hospitals with recurring shortages in primary care, psychiatry, and hospitalist roles. Physicians applying to those specialties tend to find a clearer path to sponsorship conversations than those pursuing highly competitive subspecialties.
Search Physician Roles Through Migrate Mate
Fairview's open Physician positions span multiple sites and specialties. Use Migrate Mate to filter for roles at Fairview that actively support visa sponsorship, so you're not wasting applications on postings that won't move forward for international candidates.
Ask Recruiters About PERM and Permanent Residency Timelines
Fairview sponsors EB-2 and EB-3 Green Cards for Physicians, but PERM labor certification adds 12 to 24 months before USCIS adjudication begins. Raise this in early recruiter conversations so you understand whether the employer timeline aligns with your status situation.
Align Your Application With Fairview's Fellowship Pipeline
Fairview partners with residency and fellowship programs that feed directly into staff physician hiring. If you're completing training in the region, flag your work authorization needs to your program coordinator before your final year, when offer timelines get tight.

Find Physician at Fairview Health Services JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Fairview Health Services sponsor H-1B visas for Physicians?
Yes, Fairview Health Services sponsors H-1B visas for Physician roles. As a large integrated health system, Fairview qualifies as an H-1B employer and has filed petitions for clinical staff. Because H-1B cap-subject petitions require lottery selection, physicians already holding cap-exempt status through a qualifying institution may have an advantage. Confirm the sponsorship scope with the recruiter during your first conversation.
Which visa types are commonly used for Physician roles at Fairview Health Services?
Fairview has sponsored H-1B, TN, and both EB-2 and EB-3 immigrant visas for Physician positions. F-1 OPT and CPT are less typical for fully licensed physicians but can apply to those in research or training roles. TN is the most streamlined option for Canadian and Mexican citizens. Green Card sponsorship through PERM is available for longer-term hires.
What qualifications and experience does Fairview Health Services expect for Physician roles?
Fairview requires candidates to hold a medical degree from an accredited institution, pass USMLE Steps 1 through 3, and hold or be eligible for a Minnesota medical license. Board certification or active board eligibility is expected for most specialty roles. International medical graduates should also have completed an ACGME-accredited residency in the United States or Canada, as this is standard for clinical hiring across the Fairview system.
How do I apply for Physician jobs at Fairview Health Services?
You can browse Physician openings at Fairview Health Services through Migrate Mate, which surfaces roles that support visa sponsorship so you can identify the right fit before applying. When you apply, tailor your CV to reflect specialty alignment with the posting and be upfront about your visa status in your cover letter or initial recruiter screen. Fairview's physician recruitment team handles clinical hiring separately from general HR.
How do I manage my visa timeline when pursuing a Physician offer at Fairview?
Physician hiring at Fairview can take three to six months from application to signed offer, and credentialing adds more time before your start date. If you're on H-1B or OPT, map out your status expiration against that full timeline. H-1B transfers can bridge gaps if you're already sponsored elsewhere, and USCIS premium processing is available to expedite adjudication when timelines are tight.
