Verify your medical credentials before applying
Quest Diagnostics requires board certification or board eligibility in a relevant specialty, typically pathology or laboratory medicine. Confirm your ECFMG certification and state licensure are current before submitting applications, since gaps here stall sponsorship conversations before they start.
Target Quest's pathology and lab medicine openings
Quest's Physician hiring concentrates in anatomic pathology, clinical pathology, and molecular diagnostics. Filtering your search to these specialties at regional reference lab hubs, rather than patient service centers, puts you in front of roles with the strongest historical sponsorship activity.
Ask about TN status if you hold Canadian or Mexican credentials
Physicians holding a Canadian or Mexican medical degree may qualify for TN status under USMCA, which avoids the H-1B lottery entirely. TN for Physicians requires a valid license in the state of employment, so confirm licensure before raising this option with Quest's recruitment team.
Understand how PERM timing affects your offer negotiation
If Quest offers EB-2 or EB-3 sponsorship, the PERM labor certification process through DOL typically runs six to twelve months before an I-140 can be filed. Factor that runway into your start date discussions so the offer timeline and filing schedule align.
Use Migrate Mate to surface Quest Diagnostics Physician openings
Physician roles at Quest are not always listed uniformly across job boards. Use Migrate Mate to filter verified Physician openings at Quest by visa type so you can prioritize positions where H-1B or Green Card sponsorship is explicitly confirmed.
Clarify cap-exempt status before the H-1B lottery cycle
Quest Diagnostics affiliates that qualify as nonprofit research entities or those with formal hospital affiliations may file H-1B petitions as cap-exempt employers, meaning USCIS processes them outside the annual 85,000-visa lottery. Confirm whether the specific Quest entity hiring you qualifies before counting on a cap-exempt pathway.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Quest Diagnostics sponsor H-1B visas for Physicians?
Yes, Quest Diagnostics sponsors H-1B visas for Physician roles, particularly in pathology and laboratory medicine. Sponsorship is handled through the hiring entity, and cap-exempt status may apply depending on the specific Quest affiliate and its nonprofit or hospital affiliations. Confirm sponsorship intent with the recruiter early in the interview process rather than waiting for a formal offer.
How do I apply for Physician jobs at Quest Diagnostics?
Physician openings at Quest Diagnostics are posted through the company's careers portal and on select job boards. You can also browse verified Physician roles at Quest filtered by visa sponsorship type on Migrate Mate. Applications typically require a current CV, board certification documentation, and confirmation of state licensure in the relevant jurisdiction.
Which visa types does Quest Diagnostics commonly use for Physician roles?
Quest Diagnostics sponsors Physicians on H-1B, TN visa, and F-1 OPT visas for temporary work authorization. For permanent residence, Quest files EB-2 and EB-3 immigrant visa petitions through the PERM labor certification process with DOL. The right pathway depends on your nationality, specialty, and whether the specific Quest entity qualifies as cap-exempt under USCIS rules.
What qualifications does Quest Diagnostics expect from Physician candidates?
Quest Diagnostics typically requires an MD or DO degree, ECFMG certification for foreign medical graduates, and board certification or active board eligibility in a relevant specialty such as anatomic pathology, clinical pathology, or molecular diagnostics. Active licensure in the state of the position is generally required before a start date is confirmed, not just at offer stage.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for a Physician role at Quest Diagnostics?
H-1B sponsorship through a cap-subject filing runs on USCIS's annual lottery cycle, with petitions filed in April and employment starting no earlier than October 1 of the same year. If the role qualifies as cap-exempt, processing can begin year-round and typically takes three to six months with standard USCIS adjudication. EB-2 or EB-3 Green Card sponsorship through PERM adds a separate DOL process that can run six to twelve months before the I-140 immigrant petition is filed.
