Align your credentials to U.S. licensing requirements
Quest Diagnostics requires Medical Doctors to hold or be eligible for U.S. medical licensure. If you trained abroad, confirm your ECFMG certification and state medical board eligibility before applying. Incomplete credentials are the most common reason physician sponsorship stalls.
Target laboratory medicine and pathology openings
Quest's physician hiring centers on lab-based specialties, particularly pathology and clinical laboratory medicine. Positioning your application around these functions rather than direct patient care roles improves your fit for the roles where Quest actively files sponsorship petitions.
Clarify which visa pathway fits your timeline
Quest sponsors both H-1B and TN visas for Medical Doctors, with each carrying different timelines. TN status can be obtained at the border for Canadian and Mexican physicians, while H-1B petitions are subject to the annual cap and USCIS processing windows.
Ask about PERM timing before accepting an offer
If long-term U.S. residency is your goal, confirm whether Quest will initiate PERM labor certification after your H-1B is approved. EB-2 and EB-3 green card processes for physicians can take years, so understanding the employer's intent early shapes your planning.
Use Migrate Mate to filter Medical Doctor roles at Quest
Searching Quest Diagnostics' full job board for sponsored physician roles is time-consuming. Use Migrate Mate to filter specifically for Medical Doctor positions at Quest where sponsorship is confirmed, so you're applying to openings that match your visa situation from the start.
Prepare your documentation before the I-129 is filed
Quest's HR team will need your medical degree, ECFMG certificate, state medical license, and employment verification documents to file your H-1B I-129 petition with USCIS. Having these ready before the petition window opens avoids delays during the sponsorship filing process.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Quest Diagnostics sponsor H-1B visas for Medical Doctors?
Yes, Quest Diagnostics sponsors H-1B visas for Medical Doctors, particularly in pathology and laboratory medicine roles. Sponsorship is tied to specific open positions, so you'll need an active job offer before Quest initiates the petition. H-1B petitions are subject to the annual USCIS cap, so timing your application around the April filing window matters.
How do I apply for Medical Doctor jobs at Quest Diagnostics?
You can search and apply for Medical Doctor positions directly through Quest Diagnostics' careers portal. To filter specifically for roles where visa sponsorship is available, Migrate Mate lets you browse Quest's open physician positions with sponsorship confirmed, saving you from applying to roles that won't support your visa situation.
Which visa types does Quest Diagnostics commonly use for Medical Doctor roles?
Quest Diagnostics sponsors H-1B visas for most Medical Doctor hires, along with EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card pathways for longer-term employment. Canadian and Mexican physicians may also be eligible for TN visa status, which has no annual cap and can be processed more quickly than H-1B petitions. F-1 OPT is supported for physicians completing clinical training programs.
What qualifications does Quest Diagnostics expect for Medical Doctor roles?
Quest Diagnostics typically requires an MD or DO degree, ECFMG certification for internationally trained physicians, and eligibility for state medical licensure in the relevant jurisdiction. Pathologist and laboratory medicine roles often require or prefer board certification. Fellowship training in a relevant subspecialty strengthens your candidacy for senior clinical positions within Quest's diagnostic network.
How do I plan my timeline if Quest Diagnostics is sponsoring my H-1B?
H-1B petitions must be filed with USCIS by April 1 for an October 1 start date, so your offer and documentation need to be finalized before March. If you're on F-1 OPT, confirm your OPT expiration date and whether a cap-gap extension applies. For PERM-based Green Card sponsorship, initiation typically follows after your H-1B is approved and you've begun employment.
