Frame your credentials around U.S. specialty occupation standards
Quest's H-1B filings require the role to qualify as a specialty occupation. Document how your degree in business, healthcare administration, or a related field directly maps to the Business Development function you're targeting, not just the industry broadly.
Target Quest's diagnostics-focused BD verticals specifically
Quest organizes Business Development around client segments like hospitals, physician networks, and health systems. Tailoring your outreach to one of these verticals signals commercial fluency and makes you easier to slot into an open headcount with a defined sponsorship pathway.
Engage Quest's talent team before roles go public
Many Business Development openings at large healthcare companies fill through internal referrals or recruiter pipelines. Connect with Quest's talent acquisition team directly and note your visa status upfront so they can assess sponsorship feasibility before investing time on both sides.
Use Migrate Mate to filter live Quest BD openings by visa type
Quest regularly posts Business Development roles with sponsorship eligibility, but those details aren't always visible on standard job boards. Migrate Mate filters Quest's open positions by the visa types they support so you apply only where your status is already a fit.
Clarify whether your offer triggers a new H-1B cap slot
If you're transferring from OPT or switching employers mid-status, USCIS treats those situations differently. A cap-exempt transfer from an existing H-1B avoids the lottery entirely, which matters when timing a Business Development role against a start date Quest has in mind.
Align your start date with Quest's LCA filing timeline
The DOL requires a certified Labor Condition Application before Quest can file your H-1B petition. That process typically takes one to three weeks. Build that window into any offer negotiation so your proposed start date doesn't create a compliance gap on Quest's side.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Quest Diagnostics sponsor H-1B visas for Business Development roles?
Yes, Quest Diagnostics sponsors H-1B visas for Business Development positions. The role needs to qualify as a specialty occupation under USCIS standards, which typically means the position requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific field like business, healthcare administration, or a related discipline. Quest has an established process for managing these filings through its HR and legal teams.
How do I apply for Business Development jobs at Quest Diagnostics?
You can apply directly through Quest Diagnostics' careers portal, where Business Development roles are listed by region and specialization. For a faster way to identify which openings support your visa type, Migrate Mate aggregates Quest's active Business Development positions and filters them by sponsorship eligibility, saving you time spent on roles that won't work for your immigration status.
Which visa types does Quest Diagnostics commonly use for Business Development hires?
Quest sponsors H-1B visas most frequently for Business Development professionals, given the specialty occupation requirements most BD roles satisfy. They also support F-1 OPT and CPT for candidates still completing degrees, TN visas for qualifying Canadian and Mexican nationals, and EB-2 or EB-3 Green Card pathways for longer-term employees pursuing permanent residence.
What qualifications and experience does Quest Diagnostics expect for Business Development roles?
Quest typically looks for candidates with a background in healthcare services, diagnostics, or life sciences combined with commercial experience in account management, strategic partnerships, or client development. A degree in business, healthcare administration, or a related field is usually required, and prior experience selling to or working within hospital systems, physician groups, or health plans carries significant weight in their hiring process.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take when joining Quest Diagnostics in a Business Development role?
For an H-1B transfer, USCIS allows you to begin working at Quest once the petition is filed, which typically takes one to two weeks after the DOL certifies the required Labor Condition Application. New H-1B cap filings follow the annual lottery cycle with an October 1 start date. OPT and TN transitions can move faster, often within a few weeks of an accepted offer.
