Frame your experience around revenue-generating outcomes
Hyatt Business Development roles focus on account growth, group sales, and strategic partnerships. Before applying, reframe your resume around pipeline metrics, deal closures, and market expansion, not general relationship management duties that read as administrative.
Target properties with convention and group business volume
Hyatt's full-service and luxury properties, including Hyatt Regency and Grand Hyatt brands, carry the heaviest group and corporate travel demand. Roles tied to these properties are more likely to involve dedicated business development headcount and stronger sponsorship precedent.
Confirm your OPT cap-gap eligibility before applying
If your F-1 OPT expires before an H-1B petition takes effect on October 1, cap-gap protection extends your work authorization automatically. Verify your I-20 end date and confirm your employer understands the cap-gap bridge so hiring timelines aren't misaligned.
Ask about PERM sponsorship during the offer stage
Hyatt has filed labor certification applications for business-related roles, meaning Green Card sponsorship via PERM is a realistic long-term path. Raise the question during offer negotiation, not after onboarding, so expectations on both sides are documented from the start.
Use Migrate Mate to filter Business Development openings by sponsorship type
Not every Hyatt posting signals which visa categories the role supports. Use Migrate Mate to filter open Business Development positions by the sponsorship types relevant to your status, so you're targeting roles where your visa pathway is already supported.
Prepare a specialty occupation narrative specific to your role
USCIS scrutinizes Business Development H-1B petitions because the title can appear generalist. Work with your employer's immigration counsel to document why the role requires a specific bachelor's degree, such as hospitality management, finance, or international business, not just any degree field.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Hyatt sponsor H-1B visas for Business Development roles?
Yes, Hyatt sponsors H-1B visas for Business Development positions. Because these roles can appear broad in scope, the petition needs to establish that the position qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a specific degree field. Working closely with Hyatt's immigration counsel to build that narrative before USCIS filing significantly reduces the risk of a request for evidence.
How do I apply for Business Development jobs at Hyatt?
Applications go through Hyatt's careers portal, where roles are listed by brand, location, and function. Migrate Mate is the recommended starting point if you need to filter specifically for Business Development openings that support your visa type, saving time you'd otherwise spend manually reviewing each posting for sponsorship eligibility before applying.
Which visa types does Hyatt commonly use for Business Development hires?
Hyatt sponsors multiple visa categories for this function, including H-1B for degree-holding professionals, F-1 OPT and CPT for students gaining experience, TN visa for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying business roles, and EB-2 or EB-3 immigrant visas for longer-term Green Card sponsorship. The right pathway depends on your nationality, degree, and career stage.
What qualifications does Hyatt expect for Business Development positions?
Hyatt typically looks for candidates with a bachelor's degree in hospitality management, business, marketing, or a related field, combined with demonstrated experience in account development, sales strategy, or partnership management. Familiarity with hotel operations, group travel segments, or corporate account structures strengthens your candidacy, particularly for roles tied to full-service or luxury properties.
How do I plan my timeline if Hyatt is sponsoring my H-1B?
H-1B sponsorship for a new petition follows the annual cap, with USCIS registration opening in March and employment beginning October 1 at the earliest. If you're on OPT, confirm your expiration date against that timeline and ask Hyatt's HR team whether they use premium processing, which reduces USCIS adjudication to roughly 15 business days and removes uncertainty around your start date.
