Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Medical Doctor Jobs at Dignity Health Jobs
Verify your ECFMG certification before applying
Dignity Health expects international medical graduates to hold active ECFMG certification before any visa petition moves forward. Confirm your certification status is current and that your medical credentials are ready for USCIS review well before you start outreach.
Target Dignity Health's underserved facility locations
Physician roles in rural or federally designated Health Professional Shortage Areas within Dignity Health's network are more likely to move quickly through the sponsorship process. These positions often face lower candidate competition and stronger employer motivation to file.
Ask which specialties are filing concurrently for PERM
Some Medical Doctor roles at Dignity Health are structured for permanent residence from the start, with the DOL PERM labor certification filed alongside or shortly after your H-1B. Ask the recruiter whether your specialty has an active PERM pipeline before accepting an offer.
Align your CV format to U.S. physician hiring standards
A U.S. physician CV differs significantly from international formats. Include residency training, board examination history, state licensure status, and hospital privileges. Dignity Health's credentialing team reviews these documents separately from HR, so accuracy and completeness matter early.
Confirm state medical license timing with the offer team
Your H-1B petition requires a valid or pending state medical license for the state where you'll practice. California and Arizona, where Dignity Health operates heavily, have their own licensing timelines. Delays in licensure can push back your USCIS filing date, so start the application before you receive a written offer.

Find Medical Doctor at Dignity Health JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Dignity Health sponsor H-1B visas for Medical Doctors?
Yes, Dignity Health sponsors H-1B visas for Medical Doctor roles. The H-1B is the most common pathway for international physicians entering U.S. clinical employment, and Dignity Health has an established process for filing petitions through USCIS. Sponsorship is typically tied to a specific role and facility, so the offer letter will identify the sponsoring entity within the Dignity Health network.
How do I apply for Medical Doctor jobs at Dignity Health?
Applications go through Dignity Health's careers portal, where you can filter by role and location. Before applying, confirm the posting indicates sponsorship eligibility. You can also use Migrate Mate to browse Medical Doctor openings at Dignity Health that are specifically structured for visa sponsorship, which saves time filtering through listings that won't support international candidates.
Which visa types does Dignity Health use for Medical Doctor roles?
Dignity Health primarily uses the H-1B for initial work authorization and sponsors EB-2 or EB-3 immigrant visas for physicians pursuing permanent residence. Some Medical Doctor roles in shortage areas may also qualify for the Conrad 30 J-1 waiver pathway, which converts J-1 exchange visitor status to H-1B without requiring a return to your home country.
What qualifications does Dignity Health expect for sponsored Medical Doctor positions?
Dignity Health expects ECFMG certification for international medical graduates, completion of a U.S.-accredited residency program, and an active or pending state medical license in the state where you'll practice. Board certification or eligibility in your specialty is standard for most attending physician roles, and hospital credentialing review is a separate process that runs parallel to the visa petition.
How do I plan around the H-1B timeline for a Medical Doctor role at Dignity Health?
The standard H-1B cap lottery opens in March with an October 1 start date, so a role beginning mid-year typically requires cap-exempt status or a prior approved petition. Cap-exempt hospital employment is possible if Dignity Health files through a qualifying nonprofit research or teaching entity. USCIS premium processing is available and reduces the adjudication window to roughly 15 business days, which matters when your state license approval and start date are tightly aligned.
