Verify Your ECFMG Certification Before Applying
Dignity Health requires ECFMG certification for international medical graduates before any sponsorship conversation begins. Confirm your certification is current and matches the specialty you're targeting, since gaps here stall the offer process before it starts.
Target Underserved Service Areas in Their Network
Dignity Health operates facilities in rural and medically underserved communities across California, Nevada, and Arizona. Physicians willing to work in these locations often move through internal approval faster, since hard-to-fill service areas have stronger internal pressure to sponsor.
Clarify the J-1 Waiver Path Early in Interviews
If you completed a U.S. residency on a J-1 visa, your two-year home residency requirement must be resolved before Dignity Health can file an H-1B on your behalf. Raise the Conrad 30 waiver or federal agency waiver option directly with their physician recruiting team.
Understand When PERM Labor Certification Applies
For EB-2 or EB-3 sponsorship, Dignity Health's legal team must complete a DOL PERM application, which involves a supervised recruitment process. Ask during negotiations whether the role qualifies for a Schedule A shortage occupation designation, which bypasses PERM entirely for physicians.
Use Migrate Mate to Identify Open Physician Roles
Physician openings at Dignity Health span dozens of specialties and locations at any given time, and not all are prominently listed on general job boards. Use Migrate Mate to filter specifically for Dignity Health Physician roles verified for visa sponsorship eligibility.
Negotiate Sponsorship Costs Into Your Contract Terms
Dignity Health's physician agreements are negotiated documents. H-1B and PERM legal fees are the employer's legal responsibility under DOL rules, but timing of Green Card filing and premium processing coverage should be confirmed in writing before you sign.

Find Physician at Dignity Health JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Dignity Health sponsor H-1B visas for Physicians?
Yes, Dignity Health sponsors H-1B visas for Physician roles. The organization has an active track record of filing H-1B petitions for physicians across hospital medicine, primary care, and specialty disciplines. Sponsorship is typically contingent on completing credentialing, obtaining ECFMG certification if you're an international medical graduate, and securing state medical licensure in the state where you'll be practicing.
Which visa types does Dignity Health commonly use for Physician roles?
Dignity Health most commonly sponsors Physicians through the H-1B visa for initial work authorization and employment-based Green Card pathways, specifically EB-2 and EB-3, for permanent residence. Physicians who are nationals of countries with qualifying treaties may also discuss TN or E-3 options. J-1 visa holders completing residency need to resolve their two-year home residency requirement before transitioning to H-1B sponsorship.
What qualifications does Dignity Health expect for Physician roles?
Dignity Health requires a medical degree from an accredited institution, USMLE step completions, and ECFMG certification for international medical graduates. Board certification or active pursuit of board certification in your specialty is standard. State medical licensure is required before your start date. Fellowship training is expected for subspecialty roles, and hospital credentialing runs parallel to the visa process.
How do I apply for Physician jobs at Dignity Health?
You can search for open Physician positions directly through Dignity Health's careers portal or use Migrate Mate to browse verified sponsorship-eligible roles at Dignity Health filtered by specialty and location. Applications typically require a CV, cover letter, and DEA registration documentation. Physician recruiting teams at Dignity Health manage the hiring process separately from their general HR function, so expect a direct recruiter contact early in the process.
How do I estimate the timeline from job offer to starting as a sponsored Physician at Dignity Health?
The timeline from signed offer to start date for a sponsored Physician is typically six to twelve months, sometimes longer. PERM labor certification for Green Card cases alone can take twelve months or more at DOL. H-1B cases can be expedited through USCIS premium processing. Credentialing and state licensure run concurrently but are often the longest variables. Building buffer time into your contract start date is standard practice in physician employment agreements.
