Get your NCLEX and credentials verified early
Before targeting Samaritan, ensure your nursing license is active in New York and your foreign credentials have been evaluated by a CGFNS-approved body. Delays at this stage stall every downstream step in the sponsorship process.
Target units with persistent staffing gaps
Samaritan Medical Center, like most regional hospitals, fills sponsorship slots faster in high-demand units like med-surg, ICU, and emergency. Applying to roles in chronically short-staffed departments increases your chances of an employer initiating sponsorship.
Browse open Nursing roles on Migrate Mate
Search Samaritan Medical Center's current Nursing openings directly on Migrate Mate, which filters for employers with active visa sponsorship history so you can focus your applications where sponsorship is actually on the table.
Understand how EB-3 fits healthcare hiring timelines
Hospitals sponsoring nurses for permanent residence typically use the EB-3 category, which requires PERM labor certification through DOL before USCIS can adjudicate the immigrant petition. Start this conversation with HR early, as the full process spans multiple years.
Confirm TN eligibility if you hold Canadian or Mexican citizenship
Registered Nursing is a TN-eligible occupation under the USMCA, and TN status can be obtained at the border without waiting for a USCIS approval. If you qualify, this pathway is significantly faster than H-1B and worth raising with Samaritan's HR team directly.

Find Nursing at Samaritan Medical Center JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Samaritan Medical Center sponsor H-1B visas for Nurses?
Yes, Samaritan Medical Center has sponsored H-1B visas for Nursing roles. H-1B sponsorship for nurses requires the position to qualify as a specialty occupation, which registered nursing roles generally meet. Because H-1B has an annual cap and lottery, timing your application and maintaining valid status throughout the process is critical.
Which visa types are commonly used for Nursing roles at Samaritan Medical Center?
Samaritan Medical Center sponsors several visa types for Nursing candidates, including H-1B for temporary work authorization, TN for Canadian and Mexican nurses under the USMCA, and F-1 OPT or CPT for nursing students completing U.S.-based programs. For permanent residence, EB-2 and EB-3 immigrant visa categories are the standard pathways used by hospitals sponsoring internationally trained nurses.
What qualifications does Samaritan Medical Center expect for sponsored Nursing roles?
At a minimum, you'll need an active New York State nursing license, a passing NCLEX score, and foreign credential verification if you trained outside the U.S. Clinical experience in acute care settings strengthens your candidacy significantly. Specialty certifications, such as BLS, ACLS, or unit-specific credentials, are often required depending on the department you're applying to.
How do I apply for Nursing jobs at Samaritan Medical Center?
You can find and apply to Samaritan Medical Center's open Nursing roles through Migrate Mate, which lists positions from employers with a verified visa sponsorship history. When applying, confirm in your materials that you require sponsorship and specify your current visa status so the hiring team can assess feasibility upfront rather than late in the interview process.
How long does the visa sponsorship process typically take for a Nursing role?
Timeline depends on the visa type. TN status for eligible candidates can be granted at the port of entry on the day of travel. H-1B processing through USCIS standard service runs several months, with premium processing available to reduce that window. EB-3 green card sponsorship through DOL PERM and USCIS adjudication typically spans two or more years before a final decision.
