Tips for Finding NP Jobs at MultiCare Health System
Verify Your NP Licensure Transfers to Washington
Washington State requires NPs to hold both an RN license and an advanced registered nurse practitioner license. Confirm your credentials are recognized through the Washington State Department of Health before applying, since MultiCare won't initiate sponsorship without active state licensure in place.
Target MultiCare's Underserved Service Lines First
MultiCare consistently fills NP openings in primary care, behavioral health, and rural urgent care across the Inland Northwest. Roles in these specialties move faster through hiring and tend to have more flexibility on sponsorship timelines than competitive subspecialty positions.
Ask HR Directly About H-1B Filing Timelines
MultiCare uses the H-1B for NP sponsorship, which means your employer must file before the April 1 cap-subject deadline for an October 1 start. Confirm early in your offer conversations whether they'll file in time or plan a cap-exempt route through a hospital affiliation.
Understand How TN Status Works for Canadian NPs
Canadian NPs may qualify for TN status if the position aligns with a covered USMCA occupation. Unlike H-1B, TN requires no USCIS petition and can be obtained at the port of entry, which compresses the timeline significantly for MultiCare roles with immediate start dates.
Build Your Application Around MultiCare's Clinical Competencies
MultiCare's NP job postings consistently emphasize team-based care, Epic EHR proficiency, and independent practice experience. Frame your CV and cover letter around these specifics rather than general clinical credentials to move through their screening process more efficiently.
Use Migrate Mate to Filter Open NP Roles by Sponsorship Type
Not every NP opening at MultiCare will be flagged for visa sponsorship in standard job boards. Use Migrate Mate to surface only the roles where sponsorship is confirmed, so you're applying where your visa situation is already accounted for in the hiring process.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does MultiCare Health System sponsor H-1B visas for NPs?
Yes, MultiCare Health System sponsors H-1B visas for NP roles. Because NPs working in a clinical specialty typically qualify as specialty occupation workers, the H-1B is the most common pathway. Cap-subject filings must be submitted to USCIS by April 1 for an October 1 start, so your offer timeline needs to account for this window. Some MultiCare facilities may also qualify as cap-exempt employers through nonprofit or research affiliations.
How do I apply for NP jobs at MultiCare Health System?
Applications go through MultiCare's careers portal at multicare.org/careers. Search by job title or department and filter for advanced practice roles. If you need visa sponsorship, confirm that the specific posting supports it before applying, since not every opening is approved for international hiring. Migrate Mate lets you browse verified NP openings at MultiCare where sponsorship eligibility is already confirmed, saving you time in the screening process.
Which visa types does MultiCare Health System commonly use for NP roles?
MultiCare supports several visa categories for NPs, including H-1B, TN visa, J-1 visa, F-1 OPT, and F-1 CPT, as well as employment-based Green Card pathways such as EB-2 and EB-3. TN visa is available to Canadian and Mexican NPs under USMCA. J-1 visa is often used for NPs in exchange visitor or research contexts. The right visa depends on your nationality, current status, and the specific role's qualifying criteria.
What qualifications does MultiCare Health System expect from NP applicants?
MultiCare typically requires a Master of Science in Nursing or Doctor of Nursing Practice, an active Washington State ARNP license, and national board certification such as ANCC or AANP. Clinical experience in the relevant specialty strengthens your application considerably. Proficiency with Epic EHR is consistently listed in job postings, and experience practicing in a team-based or value-based care model aligns with MultiCare's system-wide care delivery approach.
How long does the sponsorship and hiring process take for NPs at MultiCare?
The timeline depends heavily on visa type. H-1B cap-subject filings require USCIS lottery selection in March with employment starting October 1, so the process can take six months or more from offer to start date. TN status for eligible Canadian nationals can be obtained within days at a port of entry. F-1 OPT allows you to begin working within your authorized period, provided USCIS approves your EAD before your start date. Build buffer time into any offer negotiation.
