Verify your APRN licensure transfers across states
Trinity Health operates in multiple states, so the NP license you hold may not cover every open position. Confirm your APRN compact privileges or apply for licensure in the specific state where the role is posted before submitting your application.
Target Trinity Health's federally designated shortage facilities
Some Trinity Health facilities sit in Health Professional Shortage Areas, which can make J-1 waiver sponsorship a realistic path for NPs. Research which of their locations carry HPSA designations and prioritize those when evaluating open roles.
Search open NP roles through Migrate Mate
Trinity Health posts NP openings across a wide network of facilities, and roles vary significantly by specialty and location. Use Migrate Mate to filter for Trinity Health NP positions that explicitly list visa sponsorship, so you're not applying blindly.
Align your specialty certification with the posted role
Trinity Health's NP postings typically require board certification in a specific population focus area, such as FNP, AGACNP, or PMHNP. Applying with a mismatched certification is the most common reason qualified candidates are screened out before interviews.
Ask about H-1B timing during your offer conversation
For H-1B sponsorship, USCIS cap-subject petitions must be filed in April for an October start. If you're interviewing outside that window, ask your recruiter whether Trinity Health will file a cap-exempt petition through an affiliated nonprofit or academic medical center.
Confirm DOL prevailing wage compliance before accepting
Trinity Health must file a Labor Condition Application with the DOL certifying your offered salary meets the prevailing wage for your NP role and location. Request the LCA before signing your offer letter to verify the wage level matches your expectations.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Trinity Health sponsor H-1B visas for NPs?
Yes, Trinity Health sponsors H-1B visas for NP roles. NP positions typically qualify as specialty occupations under USCIS criteria because they require at minimum a Master of Science in Nursing with a specific population focus. Your employer files the petition, but timing matters: cap-subject H-1B filings follow an annual April window, so confirm with your recruiter whether the role qualifies for cap-exempt status through a nonprofit or academic affiliation.
How do I apply for NP jobs at Trinity Health?
Applications go through Trinity Health's careers portal, where NP postings are listed by facility, specialty, and location. Before applying, confirm the posting explicitly mentions visa sponsorship or contact the recruiter directly. Having your APRN license, board certification, and DEA registration current for the relevant state will move your application forward faster than any other preparation step.
Which visa types does Trinity Health commonly use for NP roles?
Trinity Health sponsors H-1B, TN visa (for Canadian and Mexican nationals), J-1 visa with a waiver through qualifying shortage area facilities, and F-1 OPT for recent graduates completing clinical training. EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card sponsorship is also available for longer-term hires. The most common path for experienced international NPs is H-1B, while new graduates on OPT often use that authorization as a bridge while the H-1B petition is prepared.
What qualifications does Trinity Health expect from NP applicants?
Trinity Health expects NP candidates to hold a Master of Science in Nursing or Doctor of Nursing Practice, active APRN licensure in the state of the role, and national board certification in the relevant population focus area from AANP or ANCC. Most clinical postings also require prior NP experience in the specific specialty, and prescriptive authority documentation is standard for any role involving medication management.
How do I find Trinity Health NP roles that include visa sponsorship?
Not every Trinity Health NP posting will specify visa sponsorship, which makes filtering difficult on their main careers portal. Migrate Mate aggregates Trinity Health NP openings and surfaces roles where sponsorship is confirmed, letting you avoid wasting application effort on positions that won't support your visa situation. Narrowing by specialty and state before applying also improves your response rate significantly.
