Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Family Physician Jobs at Trinity Health Jobs
Get your medical credentials verified early
Trinity Health expects board certification or active pursuit of ABFM certification. Start ECFMG certification and state medical license applications before you apply, since delays in either can stall a visa filing even after an offer is extended.
Target Trinity Health's underserved site openings
Family Physician roles at federally designated Health Professional Shortage Areas within Trinity Health's network can support J-1 Conrad 30 waivers and NHSC loan repayment. Identifying these openings specifically puts you in a stronger sponsorship conversation from the first interview.
Clarify the visa pathway before signing your offer
Trinity Health sponsors multiple visa types for physicians. Ask HR directly whether your offer is structured for H-1B, TN, or a Green Card-track pathway, since each has different start date constraints and USCIS filing timelines that affect your first day of employment.
Understand how PERM affects your Green Card timeline
If Trinity Health proposes an EB-2 or EB-3 pathway, the DOL PERM labor certification process begins after you're hired and can take a year or more before an I-140 petition is filed. Confirm whether the role is permanent and full-time, which are PERM eligibility requirements.
Use Migrate Mate to find open Family Physician roles
Filtering for sponsorship-confirmed Family Physician openings across health systems saves significant time. Use Migrate Mate to identify current Trinity Health postings that match your specialty and target location before reaching out to their physician recruitment team.
Align your contract start date with H-1B cap timing
If you need a cap-subject H-1B, USCIS only accepts petitions in April for an October 1 start. Negotiate your Trinity Health offer start date with this window in mind, and ask whether cap-exempt status applies if the role is based at a qualifying nonprofit or teaching site.

Does Trinity Health sponsor H-1B visas for Family Physicians?
Yes, Trinity Health sponsors H-1B visas for Family Physicians. As a large nonprofit health system, Trinity Health has established relationships with immigration counsel and files employer-sponsored petitions for qualifying physician roles. If your target role is at a teaching hospital or qualifying nonprofit site within the network, you may also be eligible for cap-exempt H-1B filing, which avoids the annual lottery.
How do I apply for Family Physician jobs at Trinity Health?
Applications go through Trinity Health's careers portal, where roles are listed by location and service line. Physician-specific postings often include details about the practice setting and whether the site qualifies for loan repayment or visa support. You can also browse open Family Physician positions at Trinity Health through Migrate Mate, which filters for roles with confirmed sponsorship to save you time.
Which visa types does Trinity Health commonly use for Family Physician roles?
Trinity Health sponsors H-1B, J-1, TN, F-1 OPT, and Green Card-track pathways including EB-2 and EB-3 for Family Physicians. J-1 Conrad 30 waivers are relevant for physicians willing to commit to underserved sites within the network. TN is available for Canadian and Mexican physicians whose specialty appears on the USMCA qualifying occupations list.
What qualifications does Trinity Health expect for Family Physician positions?
Trinity Health generally requires completion of a family medicine residency, ECFMG certification for international medical graduates, and an active or pending state medical license in the practice state. Board certification through the American Board of Family Medicine is expected or required within a defined period of hire. Prior experience in outpatient primary care or community health settings is valued, particularly for roles at federally qualified health centers within the network.
How do I plan my timeline around Trinity Health's visa filing process for physicians?
Physician hiring at large health systems like Trinity Health moves slowly. From offer letter to credentialing clearance to visa filing, count on three to six months before a start date is realistic. If you need an H-1B, USCIS filing deadlines in April are fixed, so offers accepted in late summer or fall may require an October start the following year. Confirm filing timelines with Trinity Health's HR team early in negotiations.
