Verify your medical credentials match state requirements
Each state where Trinity Health operates has its own medical licensing board. Confirm your ECFMG certification and USMLE scores meet the requirements for the specific state you're targeting before applying, since credentialing timelines can delay a start date significantly.
Target Trinity Health's high-need specialty service lines
Trinity Health consistently fills roles in primary care, hospitalist medicine, and certain surgical subspecialties. Focusing your applications on departments with documented shortages strengthens your case for employer-sponsored PERM labor certification, where proving lack of qualified U.S. workers is a key DOL requirement.
Find open Medical Doctor roles using Migrate Mate
Migrate Mate lists Medical Doctor positions at Trinity Health filtered by visa sponsorship type. Searching by role and location lets you identify which facilities have active openings before you invest time tailoring your CV and cover letter.
Ask about J-1 waiver sponsorship during early conversations
If you completed a J-1 residency or fellowship, Trinity Health operates in health professional shortage areas that can support Conrad 30 waiver applications. Raise this in your first recruiter conversation, since waiver approval timelines affect when your H-1B sponsorship can begin.
Clarify whether the offer includes premium processing
USCIS premium processing for H-1B petitions reduces the adjudication window to 15 business days. For physicians with a firm start date tied to hospital credentialing cycles, confirm with Trinity Health's legal team whether this upgrade is included or needs to be negotiated.
Align your EB-2 or EB-3 PERM timeline with your nonimmigrant status
Trinity Health sponsors both EB-2 and EB-3 green card pathways for physicians. DOL PERM audits can extend the process well beyond a year, so initiate the conversation about immigrant visa sponsorship as early as your first year of employment to avoid status gaps.

Find Medical Doctor at Trinity Health JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Trinity Health sponsor H-1B visas for Medical Doctors?
Yes, Trinity Health sponsors H-1B visas for Medical Doctors. As a large nonprofit health system, Trinity qualifies as a cap-exempt employer through its affiliations with nonprofit research and teaching institutions, which means H-1B petitions can be filed at any time of year rather than waiting for the annual lottery cap cycle. Confirm the specific facility's cap-exempt status with their legal team during the offer stage.
How do I apply for Medical Doctor jobs at Trinity Health?
You can apply through Trinity Health's careers portal directly, but filtering for roles that match your visa type can be difficult on general job boards. Migrate Mate lets you browse Medical Doctor openings at Trinity Health filtered by visa sponsorship, so you can identify the right positions before submitting your application and credentialing documents.
Which visa types does Trinity Health commonly use for Medical Doctor roles?
Trinity Health sponsors H-1B, J-1, TN, F-1 OPT, and immigrant visa categories including EB-2 and EB-3 for Medical Doctors. Physicians completing U.S. residency on J-1 status often transition through a Conrad 30 waiver into an H-1B. Canadian and Mexican physicians may use the TN visa if their specialty appears on the qualifying occupations list.
What qualifications does Trinity Health expect for Medical Doctor positions?
Trinity Health requires full medical licensure in the state of employment, board certification or active board eligibility in your specialty, and ECFMG certification for internationally trained physicians. Most roles also require completion of an accredited U.S. or Canadian residency program. Hospitalist and primary care roles tend to have more flexibility on subspecialty training than competitive surgical positions.
How long does the visa sponsorship process typically take for a Trinity Health physician role?
H-1B cap-exempt processing at USCIS generally takes two to four months without premium processing and around 15 business days with it. If you're pursuing a Green Card through PERM labor certification, the DOL audit and petition process commonly takes one to three years depending on your priority date and country of birth. Starting green card discussions early in your employment is practical for physicians from backlogged countries.
