Obtain your CNA certification before applying
Trinity Health requires state-issued Nursing Assistant certification for these roles. Complete your CNA training and pass the state competency exam before submitting applications, since Trinity will not initiate sponsorship for uncertified candidates regardless of visa type.
Target Trinity's long-term care and rehabilitation facilities
Trinity Health's skilled nursing and rehab facilities hire Nursing Assistants more consistently than its acute-care hospitals. Searching by facility type, not just the Trinity Health brand name, surfaces roles with active openings faster and improves your chances of reaching a hiring manager.
Align your application timing with F-1 OPT authorization
If you're on F-1 status, apply at least 90 days before your OPT start date. Trinity Health's HR teams in healthcare settings move carefully on visa paperwork, and having your EAD in hand before your start date removes a common bottleneck in the offer process.
Ask HR directly about J-1 or TN pathway fit
Trinity Health sponsors J-1 and TN visas for clinical roles, but eligibility depends on your nationality and the specific facility's agreements. Confirm with the hiring facility's HR coordinator which visa pathways they currently process before advancing past the initial interview stage.
Prepare for PERM labor certification timelines upfront
For EB-2 or EB-3 Green Card sponsorship, Trinity Health must complete DOL's PERM process before filing with USCIS. This can take a year or more. Discuss green card timelines during the offer stage so you understand the employer's commitment and your expected wait.
Use Migrate Mate to filter Trinity Health Nursing Assistant openings
Nursing Assistant roles at Trinity Health are spread across dozens of regional facilities and rotate frequently. Use Migrate Mate to filter active openings by visa type and location so you're targeting verified sponsorship-eligible positions, not listings that have already closed or excluded international candidates.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Trinity Health sponsor H-1B visas for Nursing Assistants?
Trinity Health does sponsor H-1B visas, but H-1B eligibility for Nursing Assistant roles is limited. The H-1B requires the position to qualify as a specialty occupation, typically demanding at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field. Most Nursing Assistant roles do not meet that threshold. If you hold a higher nursing or healthcare degree and are targeting a more advanced role, H-1B sponsorship is more realistic. For standard CNA positions, F-1 OPT, TN visa, or EB-3 pathways are more commonly used.
Which visa types are commonly used for Nursing Assistant roles at Trinity Health?
For Nursing Assistant positions, Trinity Health most commonly works with F-1 OPT, TN (for Canadian and Mexican nationals with qualifying credentials), J-1 visa (for exchange visitors in clinical training programs), and EB-3 Green Card sponsorship through DOL's PERM process. The EB-3 route is often used for direct hires who plan to build a long-term career with the organization. TN and OPT are faster to process and are typically used for near-term start dates.
How do I apply for Nursing Assistant jobs at Trinity Health?
Applications go through Trinity Health's careers portal, where you search by job title and location. You'll need a current CNA certification for the state where the facility is located, along with any required background check documentation. Migrate Mate lists Trinity Health's Nursing Assistant openings filtered by visa sponsorship eligibility, which helps you identify the right positions before going directly to Trinity's application portal to submit your materials.
What qualifications does Trinity Health expect for Nursing Assistant candidates?
Trinity Health requires a state-certified Nursing Assistant credential, which means passing both a written and clinical skills exam administered by your state. Most facilities also expect at least some hands-on patient care experience, particularly for roles in rehabilitation or long-term care settings. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is commonly required. Candidates with experience in hospital or skilled nursing facility environments tend to advance faster in Trinity's hiring process than those with only classroom training.
How do I manage timing between my visa status and a Trinity Health job offer?
Timing is one of the most common friction points for international Nursing Assistants at large health systems. If you're on F-1 OPT, have your EAD in hand and confirm your OPT end date before accepting an offer. For EB-3 sponsorship, USCIS processing and DOL's PERM labor certification can take 12 to 24 months from initiation. Raise the sponsorship timeline question directly with HR during the offer stage, not after, so both parties have aligned expectations before you accept.
