Earn your CNA certification before applying
Minnesota requires state-approved Nursing Assistant training and a passing score on the competency evaluation before you can work in a clinical setting. Fairview won't file sponsorship paperwork for uncertified candidates, so complete your certification first.
Target Fairview's hospital campuses directly
Fairview operates multiple hospital and outpatient sites across the Twin Cities metro. Nursing Assistant openings are distributed across those locations, so filter your search by campus to find postings that match your commute and preferred care setting.
Use Migrate Mate to surface open Nursing Assistant roles
Fairview posts Nursing Assistant positions across several job boards, and listings move quickly in healthcare. Use Migrate Mate to browse current openings at Fairview filtered by visa sponsorship eligibility so you're not applying blind.
Confirm your visa type fits the role's timeline
Nursing Assistant roles at Fairview are often filled on short notice to meet patient staffing ratios. If you're on F-1 OPT, confirm your work authorization end date gives Fairview enough runway to onboard you before your status expires.
Ask HR explicitly about PERM sponsorship timelines
Fairview sponsors EB-2 and EB-3 Green Cards for healthcare roles, but PERM-based cases can take two or more years from filing to approval. Before accepting an offer, ask the recruiter which sponsorship pathway applies and what the expected timeline looks like.
Prepare your clinical experience documentation carefully
Fairview's clinical hiring managers review patient care hours and unit-specific experience when assessing Nursing Assistant candidates. Bring reference letters from prior supervisors and documentation of any long-term care, acute care, or rehabilitation experience you have.

Find Nursing Assistant at Fairview Health Services JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Fairview Health Services sponsor H-1B visas for Nursing Assistants?
Fairview Health Services does sponsor H-1B visas, and Nursing Assistant roles fall within the healthcare support functions they staff internationally. That said, H-1B sponsorship for Nursing Assistants depends on the specific role meeting specialty occupation criteria under USCIS rules, which can vary. Confirm the sponsorship pathway directly with Fairview's HR team when you receive an offer.
How do I apply for Nursing Assistant jobs at Fairview Health Services?
Applications go through Fairview's careers portal at fairview.org. Search for Nursing Assistant or Patient Care Technician roles, select your preferred location, and apply directly. You can also browse Fairview's open Nursing Assistant positions filtered by visa sponsorship eligibility on Migrate Mate, which makes it easier to identify roles where international candidates are actively considered.
Which visa types are commonly used for Nursing Assistant roles at Fairview Health Services?
Fairview sponsors several visa categories for clinical support staff, including H-1B, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, TN, and employment-based Green Cards through the EB-2 and EB-3 preference categories. TN visas apply to Canadian and Mexican nationals in eligible healthcare occupations. F-1 OPT and CPT are common entry points for recent graduates while a longer-term sponsorship path is arranged.
What qualifications does Fairview Health Services expect for Nursing Assistant candidates?
Fairview requires active Minnesota Nursing Assistant certification for most direct patient care roles. Prior experience in an acute care hospital, long-term care facility, or rehabilitation setting is preferred. Basic Life Support certification is typically required before your start date. Candidates with documented experience in high-acuity or specialty units tend to be more competitive for hospital-based positions across Fairview's network.
How long does the sponsorship and hiring process take at Fairview Health Services?
Timelines vary by visa type. F-1 OPT authorization is typically in place before you start, so onboarding can move quickly. H-1B sponsorship requires USCIS filing and, if subject to the annual cap, a lottery selection that runs each spring for October 1 start dates. EB-3 Green Card cases filed through PERM with DOL can take two or more years end to end, depending on your country of birth and priority date backlog.
