Obtain your CNA certification before applying
Washington State requires a valid Certified Nursing Assistant credential through the Department of Health before you can work in this role. Secure your certification and any required CPR credentials ahead of submitting applications, since MultiCare won't initiate sponsorship for uncredentialed candidates.
Target MultiCare's high-volume hiring facilities
MultiCare operates across Tacoma, Spokane, Auburn, and surrounding communities. Facilities with active patient census growth, like Tacoma General or Valley Hospital, tend to post Nursing Assistant openings most consistently, giving you better odds of landing a sponsoring offer.
Clarify your visa category early in interviews
MultiCare sponsors multiple visa types for clinical support roles, including H-1B, TN, J-1, and OPT. Raise your authorization status in the recruiter screening call, not after an offer, so both parties can confirm the right pathway before you reach the offer stage.
Use Migrate Mate to filter open Nursing Assistant roles
MultiCare posts Nursing Assistant positions across several facilities simultaneously, and availability shifts quickly. Use Migrate Mate to filter specifically for MultiCare openings that align with your visa type, so you're applying to roles where sponsorship is already confirmed as part of the hiring profile.
Understand the TN visa option if you're Canadian or Mexican
Nursing is a TN-eligible profession under USMCA, and MultiCare sponsors TN visas. Unlike H-1B, TN has no lottery and can be processed at the border with an employer support letter. Confirm the offer letter explicitly references TN sponsorship before your travel date.
Prepare your I-9 and E-Verify documentation in advance
MultiCare participates in E-Verify, so your employment eligibility is confirmed electronically on your start date. Have your List A or List B plus C documents organized before onboarding. OPT and CPT students should confirm their EAD expiration dates align with MultiCare's onboarding window.

Find Nursing Assistant at MultiCare Health System JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does MultiCare Health System sponsor H-1B visas for Nursing Assistants?
Yes, MultiCare Health System sponsors H-1B visas for qualifying Nursing Assistant roles. Because H-1B requires the position to meet specialty occupation standards, your application is stronger when the role involves specialized clinical tasks and you hold a relevant degree. MultiCare's HR team works with immigration counsel to assess each candidate's situation, so raising sponsorship needs early in the process is the right approach.
How do I apply for Nursing Assistant jobs at MultiCare Health System?
Applications go through MultiCare's careers portal, where postings are listed by facility and department. You can also browse verified Nursing Assistant openings at MultiCare on Migrate Mate, which filters roles by visa sponsorship eligibility so you're not wasting time on positions that won't support your work authorization. Have your CNA certification, CPR credential, and visa documentation ready before submitting.
Which visa types does MultiCare Health System commonly use for Nursing Assistant roles?
MultiCare sponsors H-1B, EB-2, EB-3, TN, J-1, and F-1 OPT and CPT for Nursing Assistant positions. For permanent residency, EB-3 is the most common pathway for healthcare support workers and typically involves PERM labor certification through the DOL. TN is available to Canadian and Mexican nationals without a lottery. J-1 is often used for clinical exchange programs with defined training objectives.
What qualifications does MultiCare Health System expect from Nursing Assistant candidates?
MultiCare requires a current Washington State CNA certification and typically expects at least six months of hands-on patient care experience in a hospital or long-term care setting. BLS or CPR certification is standard. For visa sponsorship purposes, candidates pursuing H-1B should be prepared to demonstrate how their educational background aligns with the specific clinical responsibilities of the role.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for a Nursing Assistant role at MultiCare?
Timeline depends on your visa type. TN and OPT extensions can move quickly, sometimes within weeks of an offer. H-1B standard processing through USCIS currently runs three to six months, with premium processing available for faster adjudication. EB-3 Green Card sponsorship involving PERM typically takes one to three years from initial filing to approval, depending on your country of birth and priority date.
