Obtain a CNA Credential Before Applying
Trinity Health's Care Assistant postings typically require state-certified nursing assistant credentials. Get your CNA certification in the state where you're targeting a Trinity Health facility before submitting applications, since unlicensed candidates rarely advance to sponsorship conversations.
Target Facilities With Active Hiring Pipelines
Trinity Health operates dozens of regional health ministries, and sponsorship activity is not uniform across all sites. Focus on facilities in states with documented workforce shortages, where Trinity Health locations are more likely to support visa filing for care-level roles.
Clarify Sponsorship Timing During the Offer Stage
For H-1B sponsorship, ask your Trinity Health recruiter whether they file during the April cap season or use cap-exempt status through affiliated teaching hospitals. That distinction affects your start date by months and determines whether you need OPT bridge coverage first.
Use OPT Strategically to Build Eligible Experience
If you're on F-1 OPT, use that authorization period to accumulate patient care hours at a Trinity Health facility. Documented bedside care experience strengthens both your internal transfer case and any future EB-3 PERM labor certification your employer files on your behalf.
Understand How PERM Applies to Your Role
EB-3 sponsorship for Care Assistants requires Trinity Health to complete a DOL PERM labor certification, which verifies no qualified U.S. workers are available. This process typically takes one to two years before an I-140 petition can be filed, so raise it early in negotiations.
Browse Open Roles Using Migrate Mate
Care Assistant openings at Trinity Health are spread across multiple regional systems and can be hard to track in one place. Use Migrate Mate to filter for Trinity Health Care Assistant roles that are open to visa sponsorship, so you're applying to positions already matched to your immigration needs.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Trinity Health sponsor H-1B visas for Care Assistants?
Yes, Trinity Health sponsors H-1B visas for Care Assistants at qualifying facilities, though sponsorship decisions are made at the regional health ministry level rather than centrally. Because Care Assistant roles are typically classified as non-specialty occupations, H-1B eligibility depends on how the specific position is structured and what credentials the facility requires. Confirm sponsorship availability directly with the recruiter for your target location.
How do I apply for Care Assistant jobs at Trinity Health?
Applications go through Trinity Health's careers portal, where roles are listed by facility and region. Before applying, confirm your CNA certification meets the state requirements for that specific location. Mention your visa status and sponsorship needs early in the recruiter screening call. You can also browse Care Assistant openings at Trinity Health filtered by sponsorship eligibility through Migrate Mate to find roles already aligned with your immigration situation.
Which visa types does Trinity Health commonly use for Care Assistant roles?
Trinity Health sponsors Care Assistants under several visa categories including H-1B, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, TN visa, J-1 visa, and employment-based Green Card pathways such as EB-2 and EB-3. For internationally educated candidates already in the U.S., F-1 OPT is the most common entry point, with EB-3 Green Card sponsorship often pursued after the candidate establishes tenure at the facility.
What qualifications does Trinity Health expect for Care Assistant positions?
Most Trinity Health Care Assistant postings require a current state Certified Nursing Assistant license, basic life support certification, and prior hands-on patient care experience. Some facilities also require English language proficiency documentation for internationally educated applicants. Trinity Health's mission-driven culture places weight on compassionate care and communication skills, so clinical credentials alone are rarely sufficient without demonstrated patient interaction experience.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for a Care Assistant role at Trinity Health?
Timeline depends on the visa category. H-1B sponsorship through the annual cap requires filing in April, with employment starting no earlier than October 1, a wait of up to six months from the cap lottery. EB-3 Green Card sponsorship through DOL PERM labor certification typically takes one to two years before reaching the I-140 stage. TN and J-1 pathways move faster, often processing within a few weeks to months.
