Verify Your Credentials Before Applying
USCIS requires foreign-trained Physical Therapists to have their credentials evaluated by a NACES-approved body like FCCPT. Submit this early since evaluations can take six to ten weeks and no employer can file without it.
Target Inpatient Rehab Facilities Specifically
Encompass Health operates dedicated inpatient rehabilitation hospitals, not general acute-care settings. Applying to roles listed under rehab hospital locations improves your fit for the clinical profile their hiring teams are actively screening for.
Ask About Green Card Sponsorship During Interviews
Encompass Health has sponsored EB-2 and EB-3 immigrant visas for Physical Therapists, which require PERM labor certification through DOL. Confirm early whether the specific facility and role are included in their sponsorship program before accepting an offer.
Understand the TN Pathway If You Are Canadian or Mexican
Physical Therapy is a USMCA-listed profession, making TN status a faster route for Canadian and Mexican nationals. TN requires a job offer letter, your credentials, and proof of licensure, with no DOL filing required and no annual cap.
Align Your State License to the Facility Location
Encompass Health operates across dozens of states, and each state issues its own PT license. Confirm which state the role is in, apply for that state license immediately, and communicate your expected licensure date to the recruiter during screening.
Use Migrate Mate to Find Sponsored PT Openings
Sponsored Physical Therapist roles are scattered across Encompass Health's facility network and hard to filter by visa type on general job boards. Use Migrate Mate to browse verified, sponsorship-confirmed PT openings at Encompass Health in one place.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Encompass Health sponsor H-1B visas for Physical Therapists?
Encompass Health's visa sponsorship for Physical Therapists tends to focus on immigrant visa pathways like EB-2 and EB-3 rather than H-1B visa. Physical Therapy is a licensed healthcare profession with established PERM-based Green Card routes, which many rehab employers, including Encompass Health, prefer over the H-1B lottery. Confirm the specific pathway with your recruiter before assuming H-1B visa is available.
Which visa types are commonly used for Physical Therapist roles at Encompass Health?
Encompass Health has sponsored EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card petitions for Physical Therapists, which involve DOL PERM labor certification. F-1 OPT and CPT are accepted for students completing clinical placements. TN visa status is available to Canadian and Mexican nationals. J-1 visa exchange visitor status is occasionally used for clinical training programs. The right pathway depends on your nationality and whether you're seeking temporary or permanent status.
How do I apply for Physical Therapist jobs at Encompass Health?
Encompass Health posts PT openings by facility location across its inpatient rehabilitation hospital network. You can browse and filter visa-sponsored Physical Therapist roles at Encompass Health through Migrate Mate, which surfaces positions where sponsorship is confirmed. When applying, have your FCCPT credential evaluation, state license or pending application, and a current resume tailored to inpatient rehab settings ready before you submit.
What qualifications does Encompass Health expect for sponsored Physical Therapist roles?
Encompass Health typically requires a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree or an equivalent foreign credential verified by a NACES-approved evaluator such as FCCPT. Active state licensure in the state where the facility is located is required before your start date. Inpatient rehabilitation experience, particularly with neurological or orthopedic patient populations, strengthens your application for their hospital settings.
How long does the sponsorship process take for a Physical Therapist at Encompass Health?
If Encompass Health sponsors an EB-3 Green Card, the PERM labor certification filed with DOL typically takes six to twelve months on its own, followed by an I-140 petition with USCIS. For applicants from India or China, priority date backlogs can extend the overall timeline by years. TN status for Canadian and Mexican nationals can be processed in days. Always clarify which pathway is on offer before accepting.
