Tailor your resume to healthcare operations
MyMichigan Health administrative roles require familiarity with medical scheduling, electronic health records, and HIPAA compliance. Highlighting direct experience with healthcare-specific systems like Epic or Cerner signals you can contribute from day one.
Confirm your OPT or CPT timeline early
F-1 students on OPT have a 60-day grace period after employment ends. If you're targeting MyMichigan Health while your OPT is active, align your application timeline so the offer and start date fall within your authorized work period.
Find MyMichigan Health openings through Migrate Mate
Administrative Assistant positions at MyMichigan Health are posted across multiple portals and rotate frequently. Browse verified sponsorship-eligible openings on Migrate Mate to identify active roles before they close.
Understand TN status for administrative roles
Canadian and Mexican applicants may qualify for TN status if their administrative role maps to an eligible USMCA occupation category. Confirm the specific job title and duties align with DOL-recognized TN classifications before pursuing this pathway.
Ask about H-1B filing timelines during the offer stage
H-1B cap-subject petitions must be filed in April for an October 1 start date. When you receive an offer from MyMichigan Health, ask HR directly about their H-1B filing calendar so you know whether your start date aligns with the USCIS cap season.
Prepare credential documentation for specialty occupation review
USCIS requires that H-1B administrative roles meet specialty occupation standards. Gather transcripts, degree equivalency evaluations, and any certifications showing your education directly relates to healthcare administration before the petition is filed.

Find Administrative Assistant at MyMichigan Health JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does MyMichigan Health sponsor H-1B visas for Administrative Assistants?
Yes, MyMichigan Health has sponsored H-1B visas for Administrative Assistant roles. Because H-1B petitions are subject to the annual USCIS cap and lottery, sponsorship for this role type depends on the specific position qualifying as a specialty occupation and on filing timelines aligning with the April registration window for an October 1 start date.
How do I apply for Administrative Assistant jobs at MyMichigan Health?
Applications are submitted through MyMichigan Health's careers portal. Search by role type and location, then apply directly to open Administrative Assistant postings. To find roles confirmed as sponsorship-eligible, browse Migrate Mate, which filters healthcare employer listings by visa sponsorship history so you can target positions that fit your immigration situation.
Which visa types does MyMichigan Health commonly use for Administrative Assistant roles?
MyMichigan Health has sponsored H-1B, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, and TN visas for administrative functions. F-1 OPT and CPT are common entry points for recent graduates, while H-1B sponsorship is typically offered for longer-term hires. TN is an option for qualified Canadian and Mexican nationals whose role maps to an eligible USMCA occupation category.
What qualifications does MyMichigan Health expect for Administrative Assistant positions?
Most Administrative Assistant roles at MyMichigan Health require a high school diploma or associate degree, with preference for candidates who have experience in a healthcare or clinical office setting. Proficiency with electronic health record systems, medical terminology, scheduling software, and HIPAA-compliant documentation practices strengthens your application significantly over general administrative backgrounds.
How do I plan my application timeline around visa sponsorship at MyMichigan Health?
If you're pursuing H-1B sponsorship, work backward from the April USCIS registration deadline. You'll need an offer in place before that window opens. For OPT candidates, factor in your OPT expiration date and STEM extension eligibility. For TN, processing can happen at the port of entry, which shortens the timeline considerably compared to H-1B cap filing.
