Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Nursing Jobs at MyMichigan Health Jobs
Get Your Credentials Evaluated Before Applying
International nursing degrees must be evaluated by a CGFNS-approved credential evaluation service before most U.S. hospital systems will advance your application. Complete this step early, the process can take several weeks and will be required regardless of visa type.
Prioritize NCLEX Licensure in Michigan
MyMichigan Health requires Michigan RN licensure, not just a passing NCLEX score. Apply for licensure through the Michigan Board of Nursing as soon as your credential evaluation is complete so your application isn't delayed at the offer stage.
Target Roles in High-Turnover Units First
Med-surg, telemetry, and long-term care units within regional health systems like MyMichigan historically carry the most open positions. Applying to these units increases your chances of reaching a hiring manager willing to initiate a sponsorship conversation.
Search Nursing Jobs at MyMichigan Health on Migrate Mate
Filter by visa type and role function on Migrate Mate to find active MyMichigan Health nursing listings verified for sponsorship eligibility. This cuts the guesswork of identifying which postings are realistically open to sponsored candidates.
Clarify TN Status Eligibility Before the Offer Stage
If you're a Canadian or Mexican RN, TN status can be obtained at the port of entry without waiting for USCIS processing. Confirm with your prospective employer that the role is classified under the nursing TN occupation category before the offer letter is drafted.
Understand the H-1B Filing Window for Healthcare Roles
H-1B cap-subject petitions are filed in April for an October 1 start date. If you receive an offer outside that window, discuss cap-exempt options or a delayed start with your employer and confirm that USCIS premium processing is available to compress the timeline.

Find Nursing at MyMichigan Health JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does MyMichigan Health sponsor H-1B visas for Nurses?
Yes, MyMichigan Health sponsors H-1B visas for qualifying nursing roles. Registered Nurse positions typically meet the specialty occupation threshold when the role requires a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Your employer files the H-1B petition with USCIS on your behalf, so confirm the specific role qualifies before accepting an offer.
How do I apply for Nursing jobs at MyMichigan Health?
Applications go through MyMichigan Health's careers portal, where nursing positions are listed by unit and location across its Michigan facilities. Migrate Mate also aggregates MyMichigan Health nursing openings filtered by visa sponsorship type, so you can identify which roles are realistically open to candidates who need work authorization before investing time in a full application.
Which visa types does MyMichigan Health commonly use for Nursing roles?
MyMichigan Health has sponsored nurses through H-1B, TN, F-1 OPT, and F-1 CPT pathways. TN is available to Canadian and Mexican RNs and can be processed quickly at the border. F-1 OPT is typically used for nurses in their post-graduation work period. H-1B is the most common long-term sponsorship route for nurses from other countries.
What qualifications does MyMichigan Health expect for sponsored Nursing candidates?
MyMichigan Health generally requires an active Michigan RN license, a passing NCLEX score, and a degree from an accredited nursing program. For H-1B sponsorship, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing strengthens the specialty occupation classification. International candidates should also complete a CGFNS credential evaluation before applying, as most regional health systems require this documentation to move forward.
How do I plan my timeline when pursuing a sponsored Nursing role at MyMichigan Health?
Build in time for three sequential steps before you can start: credential evaluation through a CGFNS-approved service, Michigan RN licensure through the state Board of Nursing, and visa processing with USCIS. For H-1B petitions, the cap-subject filing window opens in March for an October start. TN status can be obtained faster at a port of entry, which may allow an earlier start date if your offer qualifies.
