Obtain Your Nurse Aide Certification First
Michigan requires Nursing Technicians to hold a valid Nurse Aide certification before MyMichigan Health can proceed with any visa filing. Confirm your certification is active and recognized in Michigan before applying, since delays here stall everything downstream.
Target MyMichigan Health's High-Volume Units
MyMichigan Health posts Nursing Technician openings most consistently across its medical-surgical, intensive care, and emergency units. Applications to these departments are more likely to reach hiring managers actively building teams, improving your odds of reaching the sponsorship conversation.
Start OPT Early to Buy Processing Time
If you're on F-1 status, activate OPT as soon as you're eligible so you're legally working while your employer prepares the H-1B petition. USCIS requires H-1B petitions to be filed before the April 1 deadline, so your OPT start date needs to align with that window.
Confirm Sponsorship Willingness Before Onsite Interviews
MyMichigan Health's HR and recruitment teams handle visa filings centrally. Raise the sponsorship question during the phone screen, not after receiving an offer, so both sides aren't surprised by the additional filing requirements tied to clinical support roles.
Search Open Roles Using Migrate Mate
Nursing Technician openings at MyMichigan Health that include visa sponsorship aren't always easy to find through general job boards. Use Migrate Mate to filter specifically for sponsorship-eligible roles at MyMichigan Health so you're applying to positions where sponsorship is already on the table.
Prepare a Credential Equivalency Letter for Foreign Degrees
If your nursing or healthcare education came from outside the United States, get a credential evaluation from a NACES-member organization before applying. MyMichigan Health's credentialing process requires documented equivalency, and missing this document can delay or disqualify your application.

Does MyMichigan Health sponsor H-1B visas for Nursing Technicians?
Yes, MyMichigan Health sponsors H-1B visas for Nursing Technician roles. The company has a track record of filing H-1B petitions for clinical support positions. Because H-1B sponsorship requires the employer to file with USCIS before the April 1 cap deadline, you'll need to coordinate your start date and credentialing well in advance of that window.
How do I apply for Nursing Technician jobs at MyMichigan Health?
Applications go through MyMichigan Health's careers portal, where openings are listed by department and location. You can also find sponsorship-eligible Nursing Technician roles at MyMichigan Health through Migrate Mate, which filters specifically for positions open to visa sponsorship. Either way, having your Michigan Nurse Aide certification active before applying speeds up the review process significantly.
Which visa types does MyMichigan Health sponsor for Nursing Technician roles?
MyMichigan Health sponsors H-1B visas for longer-term employment and supports F-1 OPT and CPT for students in qualifying healthcare programs. TN visa sponsorship is also available for Canadian and Mexican nationals in eligible occupational categories. The right pathway depends on your citizenship, your current status, and how far along you are in the hiring process.
What qualifications does MyMichigan Health expect for Nursing Technician candidates?
MyMichigan Health expects candidates to hold an active Michigan Nurse Aide certification and have hands-on clinical experience, typically in a hospital or long-term care setting. Current enrollment in or completion of a nursing program strengthens your application considerably. If your credentials came from outside the U.S., a NACES-member credential evaluation is required before the credentialing process can move forward.
How do I plan my timeline when pursuing H-1B sponsorship through MyMichigan Health?
The H-1B cap registration opens in March, with USCIS selecting registrations by lottery in late March or early April. If selected, your employer files the full petition by April 1 for an October 1 start date. That means you need a job offer, a certified Labor Condition Application from DOL, and all credentialing documentation complete well before March, typically by January or February at the latest.
