Target roles in curriculum and content development
Newsela's sponsorship activity centers on skilled professional roles tied to its core product. Curriculum designers, content strategists, and instructional specialists are among the most relevant profiles when pursuing a sponsored position in education technology.
Understand that Newsela sponsors permanent residency pathways
Newsela's sponsorship history reflects EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card filings rather than H-1B visas. If you're planning a long-term career move, focus your application on roles where the company has demonstrated willingness to invest in permanent residency support.
Highlight your education sector experience prominently
Newsela serves K-12 schools and teachers, so candidates with backgrounds in education, instructional design, or ed-tech product development align closely with what the company values. Framing your experience around learning outcomes will strengthen your application.
Be prepared for a longer sponsorship timeline
Green Card sponsorship through EB-2 or EB-3 takes significantly longer than an H-1B. Before applying, confirm the role qualifies and ask the hiring team early whether they support PERM-based sponsorship for international candidates in that position.
Use F-1 OPT as your entry point if you're a recent graduate
Newsela has shown willingness to hire on F-1 OPT and CPT, making it a practical first employer for international students in the U.S. Starting on OPT gives you time to demonstrate value before pursuing a longer-term immigration pathway.
Search for open roles through a verified sponsorship platform
Because Newsela sponsors selectively, it helps to verify sponsorship history before applying. Migrate Mate surfaces verified sponsors so you can filter by real sponsorship history and focus your search on companies that have actually filed for candidates like you.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Newsela sponsor H-1B visas?
Newsela's sponsorship history does not include H-1B visa filings. The company's immigration support has focused on Green Card pathways, specifically EB-2 and EB-3 classifications. If H-1B sponsorship is a requirement for your situation, Newsela may not be the right fit, but it remains a strong option for candidates pursuing permanent residency in the long term.
What visa types does Newsela sponsor?
Newsela sponsors EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card pathways, along with F-1 OPT and F-1 CPT for eligible students and recent graduates. The company does not have a history of H-1B filings, so candidates who need an H-1B transfer or initial H-1B petition should clarify sponsorship options directly with the hiring team before advancing in the process.
Which roles at Newsela are most likely to receive visa sponsorship?
Sponsored roles at Newsela tend to sit within product, content, and curriculum functions that require specialized skills tied to the company's instructional platform. Professional and technical roles that meet the Department of Labor's prevailing wage and specialty occupation standards are typically the strongest candidates for Green Card sponsorship through EB-2 or EB-3 pathways.
How do I find visa-sponsored jobs at Newsela?
The most reliable way to find sponsored openings at Newsela is through Migrate Mate, which filters job listings by verified sponsorship history so you can confirm a company has actually sponsored candidates before applying. Searching through platforms that show real immigration filing data saves time compared to applying broadly and asking about sponsorship after the fact.
How do I approach the application process at Newsela as an international candidate?
Lead with your qualifications and fit for the role rather than opening with visa questions. Once you've advanced past initial screening, ask the recruiter directly whether the position supports Green Card sponsorship, since Newsela's track record shows sponsorship is tied to specific roles rather than a blanket company policy. Demonstrating clear alignment with Newsela's education mission strengthens your case.
