Align your credentials to U.S. licensing requirements
Olsson operates across multiple states, so your electrician credentials need to map to U.S. journeyman or master electrician standards. Research the specific state licensing board requirements for the office location you're targeting before you apply.
Target Olsson's infrastructure and energy project pipelines
Olsson regularly staffs electricians on civil infrastructure, energy, and facilities projects. Tailoring your resume to highlight large-scale electrical installation or commissioning experience signals fit with the project types Olsson actually bids on.
Clarify your visa category with the recruiter early
Olsson sponsors across several nonimmigrant categories. During your first recruiter conversation, ask directly which category they intend to file under for this role so you can track your own timeline and understand cap or lottery implications through USCIS.
Use Migrate Mate to surface open Electrician roles at Olsson
Olsson posts electrician openings across different regional offices, and listings move quickly. Use Migrate Mate to filter specifically for Olsson roles tagged for visa sponsorship so you're applying to positions where sponsorship is already confirmed.
Prepare your documentation before the offer stage
Have your passport, any current visa or I-94 records, and official educational transcripts ready before an offer is extended. Olsson's HR team will need these immediately once they begin the DOL Labor Condition Application process for your petition.
Understand the TN pathway if you hold Canadian or Mexican citizenship
Olsson sponsors TN visas, and for electricians who are Canadian or Mexican citizens, the TN category can bypass the H-1B lottery entirely. Confirm with Olsson whether the role's job duties satisfy the TN occupational category requirements before assuming eligibility.

Find Electrician at Olsson JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Olsson sponsor H-1B visas for Electricians?
Yes, Olsson sponsors H-1B visas and has filed petitions for technical roles including electricians. Because the H-1B is subject to an annual cap and lottery, timing matters. If you're targeting Olsson for an H-1B, engage with their recruiting team well ahead of the March registration window so the employer has time to prepare your registration.
How do I apply for Electrician jobs at Olsson?
Applications go through Olsson's careers portal, where electrician openings are listed by region and project type. You can also browse Olsson's visa-sponsoring electrician roles filtered by sponsorship type on Migrate Mate, which lets you confirm sponsorship eligibility before you apply. Tailor your application to the specific project scope listed in each posting.
Which visa types does Olsson commonly use for Electrician roles?
Olsson sponsors H-1B, TN, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, and J-1 visas for its workforce. For electricians, H-1B and TN are the most common pathways for full-time roles. F-1 OPT and CPT are relevant if you're completing an engineering or electrical technology program and seeking placement during your authorized work period.
What qualifications does Olsson expect for sponsored Electrician positions?
Olsson typically looks for electricians with hands-on experience in electrical installation, systems commissioning, or infrastructure project work. A relevant degree or vocational credential strengthens your application, particularly for H-1B eligibility where USCIS requires the role to qualify as a specialty occupation. State licensure or the ability to obtain it quickly is often expected given Olsson's multi-state project footprint.
How do I understand the timeline for visa sponsorship after receiving an offer from Olsson?
Once you have an offer, Olsson's HR team will initiate the Labor Condition Application with DOL, which typically takes one to three weeks. After LCA certification, the H-1B petition is filed with USCIS. Standard processing runs three to five months, though premium processing can reduce that to around 15 business days. TN sponsorship timelines are shorter and can often be resolved at the port of entry.
