Tips for Finding Teaching Jobs at Palm Beach Atlantic University
Align your credentials to specialty occupation standards
USCIS requires Teaching roles to qualify as specialty occupations, meaning your degree must directly relate to the subject you'll teach. A mismatch between your academic background and the course discipline is one of the most common H-1B petition problems for university faculty applicants.
Target departments with recurring faculty openings
Palm Beach Atlantic University posts Teaching roles across disciplines including business, nursing, liberal arts, and music. Focusing your applications on departments that hire regularly increases your chances of landing a role with a sponsor willing to file before your current status expires.
Request LCA filing timelines early in negotiations
The Department of Labor must certify your Labor Condition Application before USCIS can adjudicate your H-1B petition. Ask your hiring contact how early PBA's HR team initiates that process so you can plan your start date and avoid gaps in authorization.
Use Migrate Mate to filter Teaching roles by visa type
Not every Teaching opening at PBA is listed with sponsorship details front and center. Use Migrate Mate to filter positions by the visa types the university sponsors, so you only spend time applying to roles that match your immigration situation.
Prepare your transcript equivalency documentation in advance
If your degree is from outside the U.S., PBA and USCIS will need a credential evaluation confirming it meets U.S. bachelor's or advanced degree equivalency. Having a NACES-member evaluation completed before you receive an offer eliminates a common delay in the petition process.
Confirm cap-exempt status applies to your position
Universities like Palm Beach Atlantic University are cap-exempt H-1B employers, meaning your petition is not subject to the annual 85,000-slot lottery. This lets you file at any point in the year and begin work within 30 days of USCIS receipt rather than waiting for an October 1 start date.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Palm Beach Atlantic University sponsor H-1B visas for Teaching roles?
Yes. Palm Beach Atlantic University is a nonprofit institution of higher education, which makes it a cap-exempt H-1B employer. That means Teaching candidates do not go through the annual lottery and petitions can be filed year-round. The role must qualify as a specialty occupation, requiring a directly related bachelor's degree or higher as a standard entry requirement for the position.
How do I apply for Teaching jobs at Palm Beach Atlantic University?
Open Teaching positions are posted on Palm Beach Atlantic University's careers portal. Review each posting carefully for department, course load, and required qualifications before applying. Tailor your application materials to the specific discipline and academic level of the role. Migrate Mate also aggregates PBA's Teaching openings and lets you filter by visa sponsorship type, which saves time if you're targeting roles that fit your immigration status.
Which visa types are commonly used for Teaching roles at Palm Beach Atlantic University?
Palm Beach Atlantic University sponsors H-1B visas for Teaching positions that meet specialty occupation criteria. Australian citizens may qualify for the E-3 visa, which follows a similar process but is processed at a U.S. consulate. Candidates finishing F-1 programs can work under OPT or CPT before transitioning to a sponsored status. Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying Teaching fields may also be eligible for the TN visa.
What qualifications are expected for Teaching positions at Palm Beach Atlantic University?
Most Teaching roles at PBA require at minimum a master's degree in the relevant subject area, with doctoral-level credentials preferred or required for tenure-track positions. Demonstrated teaching experience at the postsecondary level is typically expected. For visa sponsorship purposes, your degree must correspond directly to the discipline you'll be teaching, not just a related field, which USCIS evaluates when adjudicating the H-1B petition.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for a Teaching role at Palm Beach Atlantic University?
Because PBA is cap-exempt, there is no lottery wait. Standard H-1B processing through USCIS currently runs several months from filing to approval. USCIS premium processing can reduce adjudication to approximately 15 business days for an additional fee. Factor in the Department of Labor's Labor Condition Application certification, which typically takes one to two weeks, before USCIS filing can begin. Build at least three to four months into your timeline from offer acceptance to authorized start date.
