Tips for Finding Physician Jobs at PHYSICIAN AFFILIATE GROUP OF NEW YORK
Verify your ECFMG certification before applying
PHYSICIAN AFFILIATE GROUP OF NEW YORK hires physicians for clinical roles in public hospitals, so ECFMG certification and a valid New York medical license are non-negotiable prerequisites. Have both in hand before submitting any application, or you'll stall the process at the offer stage.
Target specialty areas with recurring openings
Emergency medicine and hospital medicine have historically driven consistent physician hiring at PAGNY. Positioning your application toward these high-volume specialties increases your odds of landing a role that triggers the sponsorship process rather than waiting on sporadic openings.
Understand EB-2 versus EB-3 filing differences
PHYSICIAN AFFILIATE GROUP OF NEW YORK sponsors both EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card categories. EB-2 requires a demonstrated advanced degree or exceptional ability, while EB-3 covers professionals meeting minimum degree requirements. Know which category fits your credentials before your employer initiates PERM labor certification.
Ask about J-1 waiver alignment during interviews
Many international physicians come through J-1 exchange programs with a two-year home residency requirement. If you hold a J-1 waiver tied to an Interested Government Agency designation, confirm upfront whether PAGNY's employment contract satisfies the underserved area service obligations required by your waiver terms.
Use Migrate Mate to surface active Physician openings
PAGNY posts physician roles across multiple specialties and locations, and openings shift frequently. Use Migrate Mate to filter specifically for PHYSICIAN AFFILIATE GROUP OF NEW YORK physician roles with confirmed sponsorship, so you're applying to positions where the pathway is already established.
Prepare for a lengthy PERM timeline at the offer stage
Employment-based Green Card sponsorship through PERM requires DOL-supervised recruitment and can take 12 to 18 months before USCIS even receives your I-140 petition. Ask your hiring contact early whether the role is designated as a shortage occupation, which can affect whether PERM is required at all.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does PHYSICIAN AFFILIATE GROUP OF NEW YORK sponsor H-1B visas for Physicians?
PHYSICIAN AFFILIATE GROUP OF NEW YORK primarily sponsors employment-based Green Cards (EB-2 and EB-3) for Physician roles. H-1B visa sponsorship for physicians is less common at PAGNY because many international doctors enter through J-1 visa exchange programs or seek direct permanent residence pathways. If H-1B is your only option, confirm sponsorship availability directly with the recruiting team during the offer stage.
How do I apply for Physician jobs at PHYSICIAN AFFILIATE GROUP OF NEW YORK?
You can browse active Physician openings at PHYSICIAN AFFILIATE GROUP OF NEW YORK on Migrate Mate, which filters specifically for roles with confirmed visa sponsorship. When applying, tailor your materials to the specialty and site location listed. PAGNY operates across New York City Health and Hospitals facilities, so specifying your preferred site and clinical focus strengthens your application.
Which visa types does PHYSICIAN AFFILIATE GROUP OF NEW YORK commonly use for Physician sponsorship?
PHYSICIAN AFFILIATE GROUP OF NEW YORK most commonly sponsors Physicians through EB-2 and EB-3 employment-based Green Card categories, both requiring PERM labor certification filed with the Department of Labor. Some physicians also enter on J-1 waiver arrangements tied to underserved area service commitments. The appropriate category depends on your degree level, specialty, and prior immigration history.
What qualifications does PHYSICIAN AFFILIATE GROUP OF NEW YORK expect for Physician roles?
PAGNY requires a valid New York State medical license, ECFMG certification for international medical graduates, and board certification or board eligibility in your specialty. Roles in emergency medicine and hospital medicine typically require prior residency completion. Experience practicing in high-volume, resource-constrained public health environments is a practical advantage given PAGNY's hospital system context.
How long does the Green Card sponsorship process take for Physicians at PHYSICIAN AFFILIATE GROUP OF NEW YORK?
The full employment-based Green Card process for Physicians typically spans several years. PERM labor certification with the DOL alone takes 12 to 18 months. After PERM approval, USCIS adjudicates the I-140 petition, and priority date wait times vary significantly by country of birth. Physicians from India face the longest backlogs due to per-country limits under current immigration law.
