Frame Your Credentials Around Client-Facing Consulting
Slalom values BDM candidates who can demonstrate measurable pipeline ownership and industry vertical expertise. Before applying, reframe your resume around client acquisition outcomes and consulting engagements, not just revenue figures, to align with how Slalom evaluates this function.
Identify Slalom Offices With Active BDM Hiring
Slalom operates regional market offices rather than a single headquarters model. Research which markets, Seattle, Chicago, or Atlanta, have active BDM postings in your target industry vertical, since sponsorship decisions are often made at the local market level, not centrally.
Clarify Your Visa Category Before the Offer Stage
Slalom sponsors multiple visa types, and the right category depends on your nationality and degree field. Australian citizens should raise E-3 eligibility early, since it bypasses the H-1B lottery and can be processed faster, which matters in consulting where start dates are tied to client engagements.
Understand How H-1B Timing Affects Your Start Date
If you need H-1B sponsorship, USCIS only allows cap-subject work to begin October 1. Align your Slalom offer timeline accordingly. If you're on F-1 OPT, confirm your OPT expiration covers the gap between your start date and any H-1B cap-gap or change-of-status approval.
Use Migrate Mate to Filter Verified BDM Openings
Sorting through job boards for roles that actually include visa sponsorship wastes time at a critical stage. Use Migrate Mate to filter Business Development Manager openings at Slalom by visa type, so you're only applying to roles where your specific immigration status is already accommodated.
Prepare for Slalom's Competency-Based Interview Structure
Slalom's BDM interviews heavily emphasize behavioral questions around consultative selling, stakeholder alignment, and long-term account growth. Prepare structured examples that demonstrate how you've built relationships within a specific industry vertical, since interviewers will probe vertical depth, not just general sales ability.

Find Business Development Manager at Slalom JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Slalom sponsor H-1B visas for Business Development Managers?
Yes, Slalom sponsors H-1B visas for Business Development Manager roles. Because BDM positions at a consulting firm typically require a bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as business, marketing, or a technical discipline, they generally meet the specialty occupation standard USCIS applies to H-1B petitions. If you need H-1B sponsorship, factor in the annual lottery, which runs in March for an October 1 start date.
Which visa types are commonly used for Business Development Manager roles at Slalom?
Slalom sponsors across several visa categories for this function, including H-1B, E-3, TN, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, and Green Card pathways such as EB-2 and EB-3. Australian citizens frequently use the E-3, which has no lottery and can be renewed indefinitely in two-year increments. Canadian and Mexican nationals may qualify under TN status. The right category depends on your nationality, degree, and career stage.
What qualifications and experience does Slalom expect for Business Development Manager candidates?
Slalom's BDM roles typically require a bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related field, along with demonstrated experience in consultative sales or account management within a specific industry vertical such as technology, financial services, or healthcare. Candidates who can show pipeline ownership, executive-level relationship development, and familiarity with professional services delivery models are strongly positioned. Prior consulting firm experience is a meaningful differentiator in the screening process.
How do I apply for Business Development Manager jobs at Slalom?
You can browse and apply for Business Development Manager openings at Slalom directly through their careers site, or use Migrate Mate to filter verified Slalom roles by visa sponsorship type so you only apply to positions where your immigration status is accommodated. When applying, tailor your resume to the specific industry vertical the role covers, since Slalom's regional market teams hire for vertical expertise rather than generalist business development backgrounds.
How do I time my application if I'm on F-1 OPT and need long-term sponsorship at Slalom?
If you're on F-1 OPT, confirm your remaining authorization covers your expected start date and the period until an H-1B petition can take effect on October 1. STEM OPT extensions give eligible graduates up to 24 additional months, which can bridge multiple H-1B lottery cycles. Raise your timeline with Slalom's recruiting team early so their immigration counsel can plan your petition filing before the March registration window.
